Network Operations Analyst Location:
Wayne, Pennsylvania; Charlotte, North Carolina (Partial Remote)Employment Type:
Contract to Perm Role Overview This position serves as the front line of the Network Operations Center (NOC), responsible for alert response, initial triage, and resolving issues through structured troubleshooting paths. While a junior role, strong foundational knowledge and professional communication are mandatory for success in this high-visibility environment. Key Responsibilities Operational Support & Incident Response- Owns, updates, and resolves ServiceNow Incident, Problem, and Change Management records, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to ITIL standards.
- Proactively analyzes incident and change patterns to identify network risks or emerging issues.
- Provides Tier-2 level support for complex network events, including packet-level analysis, network performance degradation, and device failures.
- Participates in Major Incident response, executing deep-dive troubleshooting such as packet captures, flow tracing, firewall policy evaluation, and device log review.
- Network Technologies & Tools (Hands-On Experience Required) Packet Analysis & Monitoring
- Intermediate proficiency with SolarWinds monitoring, APCON, and other enterprise packet analyzers. Network Operating Systems
- Strong experience administering Cisco IOS, Cisco Nexus OS, Juniper Junos, and Cisco ACI fabric environments. Core Routing & Switching
- Advanced knowledge of BGP and OSPF, including neighbor establishment, route filtering, path selection, ECMP behavior, redistribution, and convergence.
- Familiarity with multi-vendor switching platforms including Brocade, Cisco Catalyst/Nexus, and Juniper EX/QFX families. Network Services & Connectivity
- Strong understanding of F5 Load Balancing, WAN architectures, DNS, DHCP, IPSec VPNs, and AWS Direct Connect topologies. Security & Wireless
- Hands-on experience supporting Cisco ASA, Palo Alto firewalls, and Aruba Wireless platforms. Documentation & Compliance
- Reviews and interprets network diagrams, runbooks, and operational documentation.
- Ensures compliance with IT and Information Security policies. Automation & Process Improvement
- Identifies opportunities to improve or automate manual operational tasks. Vendor & Cross-Team Collaboration
- Coordinates with third-party vendors for hardware maintenance, RMAs, and escalated troubleshooting.
- Assists in mentoring junior NOC staff.
Required Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.Experience:
4+ years of hands-on network operations experience in a 24x7 enterprise environment is required. Prior NOC experience is strongly preferred; however, candidates with versatile technical backgrounds from smaller environments will also be considered. Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms is needed.Technical Skills:
Cisco CCNA Certified. CCNA-level knowledge or equivalent real-world experience is required. This includes a strong understanding of BGP and OSPF. Hands-on experience is needed with Cisco IOS/Nexus OS, Juniper Junos, and Cisco ASA or Palo Alto firewalls.Professional Skills:
Candidates must be curious, coachable, and eager to learn. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, as clarity and professionalism are required at all times. Must have the ability to multitask and perform under pressure. Preferred Qualifications Cisco CCNP Certification Palo Alto PCNSA Certification AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification CompTIA Network+ Certification Work Schedule This is a shift-based role. An initial training period will follow a standard weekday schedule. After training is completed, employees will be assigned to a fixed shift, which may include weekends (Wednesday-Saturday or Sunday-Wednesday). These schedules are intended to be permanent, with flexibility required for nights and weekends as part of the 24x7 operational model.Training Schedule :
Typically M-F, standard business hours. Tues-Thurs onsite & Mon & Fri remote. 2-3 months for training period.Post-Training Shifts :
Wed-Sat or Sun-Wed rotations.Day hours Weekend hours:
~6:00 AM- 6:00/6:30 PM (remote on weekends).
- wed/thurs or tues/wed onsite Schedule shift changes/rotates typically after ~3 months. Compensation & Benefits This is a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity. The anticipated conversion salary range is $76,000
- $104,000 annually.
