Job Description

Role Summary/Purpose:
Reporting to the VP, Tech & Ops Systems Governance Leader, the AVP, Tech & Ops Control Automation Engineer plays a leading role in the automation of industry standard-based control activities that support Synchrony's operations in the public cloud. This role identifies opportunities for control automation, collaborates with stakeholders on design improvements, and leads the technical build and implementation of these enhanced controls. The successful candidate is a creative problem solver and persuasive communicator with software development experience and a strong background in technology control design and operation in public cloud environments.
Essential Responsibilities:
Drive innovation through Tech and Ops with a focus on using automation to eliminate manual control work, collaborative problem solving, and proactive process enhancementIn collaboration with Synchrony cloud control framework owners, analyze existing control catalog to identify and prioritize candidates for optimization/automationEngage with activity owners throughout Synchrony to define and document business and technical requirements for control enhancements/automationExecute build and implementation of enhanced/automated controls, utilizing traditional software development lifecycle practicesInteract and collaborate with stakeholders and control owners throughout the organization to implement necessary changes and modifications to mitigate operational, regulatory, and financial risksIdentify control gaps and potential issues, discuss viable solutions with stakeholders to ensure controls are operating effectivelyLeverage critical thinking skills to look beyond existing methodologies and current discipline to define and resolve complex problemsPerform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering and 3+ years of work experience, preferably at financial institutions/banks. In lieu of a degree, High School Diploma/G.E.D. and minimum of 5 years of related experience2+ years of experience in process optimization and/or software developmentProficiency in SQL and PythonExperience and/or certifications with industry control frameworks (e.g., Cyber Risk Institute Profile, NIST CSF)Experience and/or certifications for Cloud Service Providers expertise (AWS preferred)Experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tooling (e.g., ServiceNow Integrated Risk Management, SAI360)Experience with workflow management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Nintex)Experience with Cloud Security Posture Management and logging platforms (e.g., Wiz, AWS CloudTrail, Splunk, NewRelic)Ability to interact and collaborate effectively with stakeholders of different experience and seniorityAbility and flexibility to travel for business as required

Grade/Level:
11The salary range for this position is90,•,•USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

You will be required to commute to your nearest Hub (either virtual or physical) for in-person engagement activities such as regular business or team meetings, training and culture events.•Field Sales and some Commercial team roles may have varied location requirements based upon partner obligations or preferences.
Eligibility Requirements:

New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post.
