Job Description

Job Title:
Controls Engineer Job Description As a Power Generation and Microgrids Control Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, automating, implementing, and commissioning advanced control systems for distributed generation. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver cutting-edge solutions for microgrids, data centers, and utility projects across the US, in collaboration with our engineering team based in the EU. Responsibilities Design and implement detailed engineering solutions for distributed generation control systems. Develop PLC programming, SCADA and remote monitoring solutions, and energy storage applications. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to execute projects based on customer specifications. Troubleshoot and optimize designs in both office and field settings. Create accurate product and programming designs for internal and customer use. Program and commission field devices and systems, ensuring adherence to project specifications. Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) as required. Summarize data and report on test results to ensure schedules and milestones are met. Work with engineering drawings using ePlan and AutoCAD. Contribute to the continuous improvement of operations and processes. Essential Skills Proficiency in Siemens PLC (TI Portal) programming and Inductive Automation (Ignition). Minimum of 2 years of related experience, or 6 years without a degree. Experience in SCADA integration and automation systems. Ability to work with structured text and ladder logic. Familiarity with OPC UA protocol and at least two of the following: Modbus, DNP3, IEC61850, Profinet, MQTT. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related technical field from an accredited university. Strong communication skills and ability to interact with peers and management. Willingness to travel up to 50% of the year. You will design, develop, and integrate control systems for a variety of microgrid asset types and power system architectures. The role involves both office and field work, requiring collaboration with a dynamic engineering team and customers. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.
