Job Description The skills needed for low latency, high frequency network trading include:

• Configure 'tuned' for low latency
• Query and maximize ethernet card transmit/receive ring buffers using ethtool and configuration tools
• Disabling interrupt coalescing on network cards to minimize latency
• Balancing network interrupts over cpu cores, PCIe busses and cpu sockets
• Use 'tc' (traffic control) to query retransmitted network packets
• Increase ethernet txqueuelen so packet retransmits are minimized
• Tune sysctl variables such as net.core.{rmem_max,rmem_default,netdev_max_backlog,netdev_budget,netdev_budget_usecs}
