  • Full-time Sr Network Engineer We are a fast-paced IT managed services provider offering a wide range of services to small and medium businesses around greater Boston.
We have been growing steadily since 2010 and have an open position for a Senior Network Engineer possessing strong experience with firewalls, switching, and WiFi solutions. The general day to day duties for this role include assisting clients with networking needs, performing on-site network assessments, monitoring and managing client network alerts, participating in various networking projects, managing on-site installs and maintenance, and functioning as a networking escalation for our helpdesk and other engineers as networking related tasks come up. Based out of our Newton office, our team provides exceptional customer service to a wide variety of clients located around Greater Boston. Our network engineers are an integral part of our team at ArcLight. Required Attributes At least 5 years experience in IT Networking required. Ability to assess, document and understand existing network configurations and equipment on various brands of network equipment. Working knowledge and understanding of firewalls, switches, and WiFi solutions., including configuration and troubleshooting methods. Ability to configure and troubleshoot various types of VPN connections Thorough understanding of switching protocols (VLANs, trunking, STP, POE, etc.) Thorough understanding of network monitoring, alerting and automation Detail oriented, particularly when it comes to network configuration creation and management, documentation, and cable management. Experience with infrastructure documentation, including generating and updating network infrastructure diagrams with tools such as Visio, Gliffy, etc. Solid customer service skills, both over the phone and in person. Positive attitude and approach to technical issues and challenges, as well as client interactions. The right attitude is everything! Self starter who is able to prioritize and execute projects and tasks with a focus on timely, accurate results. Comfortable with common networking concepts such as:
WAN, LAN, VLAN, IP
addressing and Subnets, DHCP, DNS, IPS, VPN, NAT, VoIP, Remote access methods and general network security best practices. Additional Preferred Skills Previous MSP experience is preferred Working knowledge of Windows workstation and server OS and configuration, Anti-Virus, RMM Experience with Fortinet, Unifi, Meraki, Cisco and other network platforms Comfortable performing site surveys and recommending full stack solutions for new and existing infrastructures Hosted PBX VoIP systems Security system and/or Building Automation System experience (Camera and Card Access, BMS) is a plus Assisting in the on-boarding of new clients, including analyzing and documenting their existing networks and processes Implementing and managing WiFi networks from various vendors, including Ubiquiti Unifi and Meraki Other Requirements Local, with reliable transportation for daily commutes to the ArcLight office in Newton, as well as client sites (we reimburse for business travel mileage). While not frequent, occasional participation in occasional off-hours assignments (overtime available for work exceeding 40 hours in a week). Ability to physically install network equipment including firewalls, switches, UPS battery units, wireless access points, cable management etc Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; we occasionally deliver equipment to client sites.
