Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Engineer for a 6-month contract position based in Los Angeles, California. This role bridges advanced engineering projects—including migration from on-premises Citrix to Azure Virtual Desktop—with day-to-day enterprise operational support. You will serve as a core technical leader within the architecture team, driving the reliability, security, and performance of end-user computing platforms while accelerating cloud migration strategy. The position is hybrid; you must be able to work on-site 2-3 days per week. Responsibilities Lead the design, scaling, and optimization of resilient and secure virtual desktop environments in partnership with IT leadership. Execute the strategy to migrate on-premises Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) to Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Citrix DaaS with minimal business disruption. Evaluate, deploy, and refine profile management and application-delivery solutions such as FSLogix and Citrix UPM. Align with Infrastructure, Security, and Network teams to deliver cohesive enterprise IT solutions. Actively manage, prioritize, and resolve Tier-3 operational tickets, incidents, and complex escalations within established SLAs. Diagnose and troubleshoot deep technical faults across virtual desktops, profiles, networking, and authentication systems. Participate in system upgrades, disaster recovery drills, and scheduled maintenance outside standard business hours. Build and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate deployment, monitoring, and reporting tasks. Create architectural diagrams, implementation guidelines, standards, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Train internal engineering and service desk support teams to ensure effective knowledge transfer of new systems. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience. 7+ years architecting, managing, and supporting large-scale enterprise VDI environments. Strong architecture and troubleshooting expertise with Citrix CVAD (on-premises), Citrix DaaS, StoreFront, Delivery Controllers, MCS, PVS, and Citrix Gateway/ADC. Deep knowledge of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) host pools, workspaces, scaling, image management, and hybrid cloud delivery. Mastery of FSLogix, Citrix UPM, Ivanti Workspace Control (AppSense), Active Directory, and Group Policy. Experience with Ivanti Application Control, Windows Defender Application Control, Windows OS (Server and Desktop), and Hyper-V (or equivalent cloud/hypervisor platforms). Advanced scripting skills in PowerShell. Ability to balance strategic, long-term engineering milestones with fast-paced daily ticket queues. Exceptional technical documentation skills and ability to translate complex concepts for stakeholder updates and technical training. Demonstrated ability to step into complex environments and become productive immediately. Preferred Experience working in legal or financial services environments. Familiarity with Nerdio Manager for Enterprise.
Microsoft Certified:
Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty certification. Citrix Certified Professional or Expert - Virtualization (CCP-V or CCE-V) certification.
