Senior VMware Engineer
W2 CONTRACT / LONG TERM
Dearborn, MI (HYBRID) Seeking a Senior Virtualization Platform Engineer to design, deploy, automate, and support global VMware and OpenShift Virtualization (OSV) hosting platforms. This role is responsible for platform engineering, capacity management, automation, observability, security, and operational support across a large-scale enterprise environment. Key Responsibilities Engineer, deploy, administer, and support VMware and OpenShift Virtualization (OSV) platforms. Manage the full infrastructure lifecycle including design, implementation, patching, upgrades, security remediation, and decommissioning. Perform capacity planning and forecasting for compute, storage, memory, and network resources. Develop automation solutions and scripts to improve platform efficiency and operational consistency. Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, observability, and alerting solutions utilizing tools such as Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, and RHACM. Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and troubleshoot complex platform issues across the global environment. Manage RBAC, namespace governance, and resource quotas. Provide technical consulting and design solutions for application teams leveraging VMware and OSV platforms. Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational runbooks. Provide L1-L3 escalation support and participate in after-hours maintenance activities as needed. Required Qualifications 10+ years of IT infrastructure experience. 8+ years of development, automation, or platform engineering experience. Strong experience with VMware, Kubernetes, OpenShift Virtualization, Linux, and networking fundamentals. Proficiency in scripting and automation. Experience with CI/CD, DevOps methodologies, monitoring, and logging platforms. Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and Root Cause Analysis skills. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset.
