Alpine, TX July 2026 Position Overview/Description BBT is seeking an experienced Transport Network Engineer to join its team in Alpine, Texas. The Transport Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of carrier-grade transport and IP networks. This position plays an important role in supporting highly available, secure, and reliable network environments for customers and communities across West Texas. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Juniper, Cisco, and Calix networking equipment, along with a strong understanding of core and edge network architecture. This role requires expertise in routing, switching, broadband access, transport technologies, DHCP Option 82, and network security best practices. This position is ideal for a motivated, adaptable, and technically skilled professional who is ready to support a high-performing team and help BBT continue delivering exceptional service to its customers. Essential Job Functions Designs, implements, maintains, and supports carrier-grade transport and IP networks. Supports core and edge network infrastructure to ensure reliable and secure network performance. Configures, monitors, and troubleshoots network equipment, including Juniper, Cisco, and Calix platforms. Supports routing, switching, broadband access, and transport technologies. Assists with network architecture planning, upgrades, and system improvements. Helps maintain highly available and secure network environments. Troubleshoots complex technical issues and works to resolve service-impacting network concerns. Supports DHCP Option 82 and related broadband access network configurations. Applies network security best practices across supported systems and environments. Works with internal teams to support customer service, field operations, and technical support needs. Documents network configurations, changes, processes, and troubleshooting steps as needed. Adapts to changing priorities in a fast-paced and evolving technical environment. Qualifications Previous network engineering, transport network, broadband, or telecommunications experience preferred. Hands-on experience with Juniper, Cisco, and Calix networking equipment preferred. Strong understanding of core and edge network architecture. Experience with routing, switching, transport technologies, and broadband access networks. Knowledge of DHCP Option 82 and network security best practices. Strong technical troubleshooting ability. Strong communication skills. Ability to manage priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Organized, adaptable, and dependable. Customer-focused mindset.
