Job Description
About the RoleWe are seeking a Principal Engineer to serve as a hands-on technical leader on complex, custom automation projects. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys staying deeply involved in controls and automation work while also providing technical direction, project leadership, and mentorship to other engineers.
You will work closely with the leadership team and customers to help define system architecture, guide execution, and support commissioning and long-term system performance. This position offers high visibility, technical ownership, and the opportunity to influence both project outcomes and engineering best practices.
What You Will DoAct as technical lead on custom automation projects, supporting controls strategy, system architecture, and executionDesign, program, test, and troubleshoot PLC systems, primarily Allen-Bradley platformsDevelop and support HMI and SCADA systems for industrial automation applicationsProgram, integrate, and support industrial robots such as Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, or similarLead or support onsite commissioning, startup, and system validation activitiesCollaborate with project managers to support scope definition, schedules, and technical risk managementMentor junior and mid-level engineers through design reviews, troubleshooting support, and hands-on coachingSupport electrical control panel design, including schematics, component selection, and documentationApply relevant safety and electrical standards such as

79, and ISO 13849Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering processes, standards, and toolsWhat You Bring10+ years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineeringStrong hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and roboticsExperience serving as a technical lead or project lead on automation projectsAbility to troubleshoot complex systems in production or commissioning environmentsBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related fieldStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and customersUp to 20% travelBenefitsGenerous employer contribution to the Employee portion of medical insurance (75+%).Dental, Vision, and Gap insurance offered.Employer-paid Life insurance and Short-Term Disability.401(k) employer match and immediately vested.
