Network Engineer - III#26-14352 Southlake, TX Remote Job Description 4x remote, 10 hour days
  • Work 3rd shift, 10-hour days, 4-day work weeks (Monday - Thursday nights).
Description:
The successful candidate will join the Network Edge Operations (NEO) team with responsibilities to deploy network fabric configuration to support
  • 's strategic 5G direction.
This role focuses on the advanced configuration and operating system upgrades of carrier-class Cisco, Juniper, and Nokia equipment that tie together a complex, multivendor nationwide data network. The candidate will be responsible for deploying network configurations overnight in different time zones within the United States.
Implementation Responsibilities:
  • Work 3rd shift, 10-hour days, 4-day work weeks (Monday - Thursday nights).
  • Plan, prioritize, and schedule maintenance window changes with multiple teams with minimum supervision during the a and then implement these changes during scheduled maintenance windows while adhering to corporate standards.
  • Implement configuration changes for the directional Intelligent Edge Networks, including the deployment of network configuration at Service Aggregation Points (SAP) and Transport Aggregation Points (TAP) to build and migrate 5G services.
  • The work involves advanced configuration deployment of IP (L2/L3) and routing for the spine/leaf network through the use of automated systems and Methods of Procedure (MOPs).
  • Ability to follow processes including MOPs and/or automation workflows to avoid any network impacting events.
  • Take ownership of any implementation work that requires rescheduling or updates and ensure its successful re-attempt and completion.
  • Proactively manage your work schedule to prevent conflicts and take responsibility for rescheduling promptly when issues or escalations occur.
  • Submit suggested improvements for the network implementation procedures to the engineering team.
  • Equipment to be worked on includes, but is not limited to, network fabrics comprised of Cisco, Juniper and Nokia routers.
  • Leverage automation tools and processes for network configuration deployment.
  • Utilize network monitoring tools during maintenance windows to ensure that all network equipment is functioning in accordance with company standards and policies, both before and after changes are made.
  • Take accountability to review MOPs and automated dry-run outputs with the engineering team before any scheduled change to ensure accuracy.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to understand end-to-end call flows for deploying and troubleshooting network services.
  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas in order to lead change control windows and thoroughly test for any service impacting or elevated KPI issues during or after maintenance windows. You'll need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree or five or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to work 3rd shift, 10-hour days, 4-day work weeks (Monday - Thursday nights).
  • Networking experience with IP Layer 1-3 (IPv4/IPv6) and strong knowledge of VXLAN and/or fabric networking.
  • Hands on experience deploying network configurations without network service interruptions.
  • Hands-on experience with deploying network configurations for virtualized services.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and IS-IS.
  • Experience leveraging automated configuration tools to deploy network configurations.
  • Demonstrated problem solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethic and work extremely well in a team environment.
  • Cisco (CCIE or CCNP) or Nokia networking certifications.
