Software Engineer in Test Texas, Westlake 09/14/2026 Contract Active
Job Summary:
The Software Engineer in Test will work as an integral member of an Agile development team to engineer quality throughout the product development lifecycle. The role focuses on designing and implementing fully automated testing solutions using modern automation frameworks and technologies. The engineer will analyze requirements, develop automated tests within each sprint, identify defects and technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate closely with project managers, analysts, developers, vendors, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality products and improve the overall customer experience. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance automated test frameworks using Playwright, Selenium, Cucumber, Ready API, and Rest Assured.
- Develop and execute fully automated tests within Agile sprints.
- Integrate and streamline test automation into CI/CD pipelines and quality gates.
- Analyze business and technical requirements to identify potential issues before test execution.
- Perform integration testing across multiple independent systems using APIs, flat files, and other interfaces.
- Develop and execute functional, integration, regression, and automated testing activities.
- Perform root cause analysis on defects and complex technical issues.
- Track and manage defects and collaborate with development teams to drive timely resolution.
- Participate in test reporting, quality assessments, and signoff activities.
- Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, developers, vendors, and business specialists across geographically distributed teams.
- Champion quality engineering practices and ensure quality standards are incorporated into the definition of done.
- Identify efficient automation methodologies and collaborate with engineering teams to implement automation early in the development lifecycle.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and provide constructive feedback to improve sprint delivery and product quality.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, frameworks, and engineering practices. Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience creating and implementing test automation frameworks.
- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright, Selenium, Cucumber, Ready API, and Rest Assured.
- Proven programming experience with Java/J2EE, JavaScript, Spring, Web Services, Angular, and SQL.
- Experience integrating test automation into CI/CD pipelines and implementing quality gates.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and software development practices.
- Experience with requirements analysis, defect tracking, test reporting, and test signoff.
- Experience coordinating testing activities with team members across different locations.
- Strong analytical and technical skills with the ability to address complex issues.
- Experience performing root cause analysis on defects.
- Strong understanding of relational databases.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to independently advocate for quality and influence development practices.
- High level of dedication, initiative, adaptability, and passion for quality engineering. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with test automation using Java and Playwright.
- Experience working in the financial services industry.
- Experience testing highly configurable SaaS products.
- Experience integrating multiple independent systems through APIs and flat-file interfaces.
- Experience with JIRA and Xray.
- Experience with AWS.
- Ability to quickly adapt to new environments, tools, and in-house development practices.
