Job Description
About the Role As a Senior Automation and Controls Engineer, you will lead the design, optimization, and lifecycle management of complex industrial control systems and process networks. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing plant reliability, ensuring system integrity, and driving continuous improvement across our automation infrastructure. Responsibilities Oversee the full lifecycle of DCS and PLC systems, from initial concept and programming to commissioning and long-term maintenance. Develop and implement advanced process control algorithms to optimize production efficiency and minimize operational downtime. Manage the site's process control network, including the configuration of servers, workstations, and switches to ensure robust cybersecurity and performance. Direct and mentor technical staff and contractors on control strategies, system troubleshooting, and best practices for instrumentation. Maintain critical system documentation, including P&IDs, network diagrams, and control system drawings to ensure regulatory and operational compliance. Proactively manage system health through performance dashboards, KPI tracking, and regular backup protocols for critical infrastructure. Lead the resolution of complex performance issues using advanced critical thinking and diagnostic tools. Required Skills Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Automation Engineering. 5+ years of hands-on experience with industrial control systems, specifically DCS and PLC platforms. Proficiency in PLC ladder logic, analog loop tuning, and process instrumentation. Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, cybersecurity standards (ISA/NIST), and industrial network configuration. Experience with major platforms such as Rockwell, Allen-Bradley, Wonderware, and Canary Historian. Preferred Skills Advanced certifications in ABB or Allen-Bradley hardware and software suites. Experience with virtualization technologies, specifically VMware, in an industrial environment. Proven ability to lead projects involving the renewal or evolution of legacy DCS platforms. Familiarity with Claroty or similar industrial security monitoring tools.
