Job Description

Job Description Insight Global is seeking a Network Engineer I to support a growing network operations team for a local government client in the Hampton Roads area. This individual will be responsible for providing network support, troubleshooting connectivity issues, managing network infrastructure, and supporting enterprise Wi-Fi environments. The ideal candidate will have foundational experience with routing and switching, network troubleshooting, enterprise wireless technologies, and firewall administration. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside senior network engineers while gaining exposure to enterprise-level networking technologies, including firewalls, BGP, OSPF, and large-scale network environments. Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve network-related incidents and service requests.
  • Support routing and switching infrastructure across the enterprise environment.
  • Investigate DNS and network connectivity issues impacting end users and sites.
  • Perform initial ticket triage and determine appropriate resolution paths.
  • Support enterprise wireless environments utilizing Aruba and Cisco technologies.
  • Assist with network access control and authentication troubleshooting.
  • Create and modify security policies within firewall environments.
  • Escalate complex issues to senior engineers while maintaining ownership of tickets.
  • Collaborate with team members to support ongoing network operations and improvement initiatives.
  • Document troubleshooting processes, resolutions, and network changes.
Compensation:
$35.50 to $50.00/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.   • 1-3+ years of experience in network administration, network support, or network engineering.
  • Experience troubleshooting routing and switching environments.
  • Understanding of networking protocols and concepts, including: ○ VLANs ○ Traceroute ○ DNS ○ TCP/IP ○ Routing fundamentals
  • Experience troubleshooting enterprise network connectivity issues affecting users and sites.
  • Hands-on experience supporting enterprise Wi-Fi environments.
  • Understanding of network access control and wireless authentication processes.
  • Experience working with network infrastructure from end-to-end.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to explain technical issues and the reasoning behind solutions.
  • Firewall administration experience, including creating and modifying security policies.
  • Experience with Aruba networking technologies.
  • Experience with Cisco networking equipment.
  • Exposure to enterprise firewall environments.
  • Familiarity with routing protocols such as: ○ BGP ○ OSPF Previous experience supporting local government or large enterprise environments.
