POSITION SUMMARY
The System Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration, maintenance, and support of the organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, operating systems, applications, user accounts, and related technologies. This position helps ensure the availability, reliability, and security of systems by performing routine maintenance, monitoring system and network performance, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing approved changes. The System Administrator works closely with IT teams, vendors, and business users to resolve incidents, support technology initiatives, and maintain a stable computing environment. The position requires foundational system administration knowledge with the ability to manage assigned infrastructure tasks independently while following established procedures, security standards, and operational best practices, and provides technical support for escalated issues from service desk and end-user support teams.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
System Administration and Infrastructure Support- Manage and maintain servers, operating systems, applications, storage systems, file shares, and related IT infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers.
- Administer Windows and Linux systems, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD, Group Policy, user accounts, security groups, permissions, and access management.
- Manage and troubleshoot LAN/WAN and network infrastructure, including TCP/IP, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, routers, switches, firewalls, wireless networks, and network connectivity.
- Monitor system performance, availability, capacity, and network health and take appropriate corrective action when issues are identified.
- Manage backup configuration and monitoring, backup verification, file and system restoration, disaster recovery procedures, recovery testing, and business continuity documentation.
- Maintain system and endpoint security through security patching, antivirus and EDR management, access controls, vulnerability remediation, system hardening, and support for security incidents.
- Support virtualization platforms, including VMware and Hyper-V.
- Support Microsoft 365 and cloud environments such as Azure and AWS, including cloud infrastructure, user and access administration, email and collaboration services, and business application infrastructure.
- Provide desktop and endpoint support for Windows workstations and laptops, including operating system configuration, software installation and troubleshooting, hardware troubleshooting, endpoint security, and patch management.
- Investigate and resolve system, network, and infrastructure incidents; perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Automate routine administrative tasks using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or other scripting and automation tools as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate IT documentation, system configurations, procedures, infrastructure records, and operational documentation.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues and support infrastructure needs and projects.
- Support IT projects, system upgrades, migrations, technology initiatives, and infrastructure improvements.
- Ensure assigned systems and activities comply with IT security policies, standards, and operational procedures.
- Support onboarding and offboarding activities related to system access, account administration, permissions, and technology setup as assigned.
- Perform other related IT duties as assigned based on business needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in system administration, IT infrastructure, or a related position.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux administration.
- Hands-on experience with Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, routing, and switching.
- Experience troubleshooting routers, switches, firewalls, and network connectivity.
- Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualization technologies.
- Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, monitoring, and system security.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, or other cloud platforms is preferred.
- Experience with PowerShell, Bash, Python, or other scripting and automation tools is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals and access management.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and perform root-cause analysis.
- Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an IT team.
- Ability to prioritize incidents and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
