IT System Administror GS 7/9 Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Investigion Summary Are you interested in a career with the FBI as an IT Specialist? Duties Help Provide technical support to all levels of personnel concerning the implemention and daily operions of the computer systems and individual microcomputer functions in the office. Serve as point of contact of user complaints concerning computer malfunctions; analyzing and troubleshooting error conditions of varying complexity. Review operional needs to detect, diagnose, and resolve significant problems or error conditions reling to computer or reled IT products and services. Maintain and upde inventory of computer equipment and identify their configurion and locion within the office. Support the planning and modificion or development of complex systems involving non-standard Bureau opering systems or those involving complex integred systems. Requirements Help Conditions of employment Must be a U.S. citizen. Must have (or be able to obtain) a valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain a Top Secret-SCI clearance. Some travel may be required. Qualificions GS-7: Applicant must possess least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-5 grade level.
SE is defined as follows:
Provided routine support regarding administrive and/or technical mters reled to IT programs and/or services Performed routine system diagnostics and analyzed any potential problems or issues Provided some limited training to users regarding basic utilizion of computer equipment GS-9: Applicant must possess least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-7 grade level.
SE is defined as follows:
Analyzed end user requests and determined correct resolution to the problem Troubleshot complex computer malfunctions Prepared for and assisted in initial "start-up" of new equipment and software Desired Skills Desired skills are NOT mandory and will NOT be utilized to minimally qualify applicants.

A+ Certificion Network+ Certificion Security+ Certificion Educion All degrees must be from an accredited college or university. Educion may be substituted for specialized experience as follows: GS-7 : Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement or one (1) full year of gradue level educion. Superior academic achievement is the completion of all the requirements of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, which is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average of 3.0 or higher as recorded on an official transcript, or as based on courses completed during the final two years of the curriculum, or (3) honor society membership. GS-9 : Applicant must have a master's or equivalent gradue degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level gradue educion leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if reled. Degrees must be in one of the following fields: computer science, engineering, informion science, informion systems management, mhemics, operions research, stistics, or technology management OR a degree th provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaption of applicions, systems or networks. Educion completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements provided you can show foreign educion is comparable to th received in an accredited educional institution in the United Stes.
