NFJP Youth Specialist plays a crucial role in providing guidance, support, and resources to young individuals engaged in farm work or dependents of farmworkers. The Youth Specialist will work directly with youth, ages 18-24, to help them navigate their career paths, address challenges they face in their work environments, and access educational and professional development opportunities. This position requires a combination of counseling skills, knowledge of agricultural work environments, workforce development and a passion for youth. 1. Determine program eligibility through applicant interviews; records and evaluates personal and other qualifying information/data. 2. Prepare and maintain a case file for each program participant. 3. Develop along with the participant an Individual Service Strategy (ISS) which indicates the participant's employment and education goals, individual long and short-term goals and objectives. 4. Provide one-on-one and group counseling to youth farmworkers, addressing personal, academic, and career-related concerns. Develop individualized plans to support their goals and aspirations. 5. Provide guidance on career exploration, skill development, and job readiness. Assist with resume writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies. 6. Organize and facilitate workshops and training sessions on topics such as workplace safety, financial literacy, and career planning. 7. Connect youth with educational resources, job training programs, and community services that can aid in their personal and professional growth. 8. Track and assess the progress of youth participants, providing feedback and adjusting support plans as needed. 9. Collaborate with local schools, community organizations, and agricultural employers to enhance program effectiveness and build a supportive network for youth farmworkers. Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Education, or a related field. Experience working with youth, preferably in a counseling or career development capacity. Knowledge of agricultural work environments and the specific challenges faced by farmworkers. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with young individuals. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and evolving environment. 6. Bilingual Spanish and English. 7. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). 8.
