POSITION SUMMARY
The IT Systems Administrator is a vital member of the Technology Department, responsible for providing technical support and maintenance of the school district's technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, network systems, and audiovisual equipment. This role directly supports the educational mission by ensuring reliable and efficient technology access for students, faculty, and staff. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, a customer-service-oriented mindset, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced educational environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide first-level technical support to end-users (students, teachers, and staff) via phone, email, in-person, and remote access, addressing hardware, software, network, and audiovisual issues promptly and professionally. Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems related to desktop computers, laptops, Chromebooks, tablets, printers, interactive whiteboards, projectors, and other classroom technologies. Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, operating systems, software applications, and peripherals. Assist with the management and maintenance of the school district's network infrastructure, including switches, routers, wireless access points, and cabling. Support the use and maintenance of student information systems (SIS), learning management systems (LMS), and other educational software platforms. Manage user accounts and access permissions within Google Suite and Microsoft 365. Assist with the deployment and maintenance of mobile devices and related management systems. Provide basic training and support to end-users on the use of technology resources and software applications. Collaborate with other IT staff and vendors to implement and support technology projects and initiatives. Document technical issues, solutions, and procedures in a clear and concise manner. Adhere to district technology policies and procedures, including data privacy and security protocols. Perform preventative maintenance on technology equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Assist with the setup and support of technology for school events, presentations, and meetings. Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in educational technology. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology or designated supervisor.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in providing technical support, preferably in a K-12 or similar environment. Or equivilent higher education. Strong knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows, macOS, ChromeOS), software applications, and networking fundamentals. Experience with troubleshooting and resolving issues related to printers, interactive whiteboards, projectors, and other classroom technologies. Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and basic network troubleshooting. Experience with user account management and security best practices. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills. Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment. A positive attitude, patience, and a genuine interest in supporting education through technology. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+). Experience with managing and supporting student information systems (SIS) and learning management systems (LMS). Experience with mobile device management (MDM) solutions. Knowledge of audiovisual equipment setup and troubleshooting. Experience with virtualization technologies.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift and move computer equipment and peripherals (up to 50 lbs). Ability to bend, stoop, and reach to install and maintain equipment. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Ability to travel between school sites as needed.
Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in school buildings and office environments. Exposure to moderate noise levels. 4-day work week with 1 additional day per month.
