Job Description

Job Summary The IT Systems and Support Specialist (REQ21840) will support the mission of the Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University, one of the fastest-growing medical schools in the nation. Summary of Responsibilities:
Systems Administration Provide day-to-day administration and operational support for servers, systems, and applications, including performance monitoring, patching, updates, and upgrades. Configure, deploy, and maintain servers, virtual machines, and network storage systems; ensure backup, recovery, data security, and physical device security. Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics for servers, networks, and enterprise systems; assist with planning and implementation of major information systems.
Manage Active Directory and Intune:
user and group management, device provisioning, configuration and compliance oversight, script development and deployment, and application packaging, deployment, and updates. Conduct weekly MDM audits to ensure device compliance; contact users and remediate non-compliant devices. Support information security initiatives and conduct system audits, including
HIPAA/HITECH
compliance. Manage user access controls, software licensing, printer systems, and ListServ email services (list creation, user management, permissions, role audits). Serve as a technical consultant for infrastructure, security, mobile device management, and educational technologies. Create and maintain technical documentation and liaise with Central IT (OIT), hospitals, and external partners. Help Desk & User Support Provide first and second tier technical support for desktops, mobile devices, AV systems, network access, and connectivity issues. Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot operating systems, applications, hardware, and software. Support Office 365, SharePoint, classroom and instructional technologies, and assist with research and clinical IT needs. Respond to support requests via phone, chat, ticketing system, email, and walk-ins; provide on-site (may require travel) and remote support for all on- and off-campus locations. Provision equipment and system access for new users. Test and evaluate new tools, procedures, and software prior to deployment. Create end-user documentation and maintain knowledge base articles. Mentor and support Help Desk staff and student workers.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of related experience; or Associate's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and five years of related experience required. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Valid driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience supporting Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and Office 365. Experience with Active Directory, Entra, Intune, and JAMF . Experience using Hypervisors such as VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, etc. Experience with enterprise backup software such as Veeam, CrashPlan, etc. Strong technical writing skills.
