Job Description

Job Summary Under occasional supervision, plans, coordinates and implements senior and social service programs designed to meet the needs of the community. Supervises the work of part-time personnel as assigned. Ensures compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and standards of quality and safety. Reports to the Senior Services Superintendent or designee Essential Functions Plans, coordinates and implements programs and activities and events that meet the needs of the community, which may include but are not limited to senior programs, special benefit programs, trips, exercise programs, special events for seniors, various classes, and other programming. Under supervision ensures contract compliance; receives receipts and records payments; balances receipts and money; prepares deposits; and maintains account records. Supervises daily activities of subordinate staff. Coordinates Farm Share program. Acts as back-up for EHEAP applications; and acts as a back-up for MASH program. Registers and performs intakes for new seniors Coordinates and plans special trips for seniors. Organizes and supervises activities; directly supervises and interacts with seniors and the public during programs; ensures safety and resolves conflicts as required. Registers seniors and the community for programs; receives receipts and records program payments. Provides information & referral services for seniors and their families. Follows up on all referrals to assure needs are met. Staffs special events. May transport seniors to and from events or programs as required. Orders and/or prepares warehouse requisitions for equipment and supplies as needed Plans, coordinates and implements events and meetings; makes arrangements for refreshments. Leads other daily activities. Solicits donations and sponsorships from local businesses and organizations. Assists in coordinating facility rentals and distributing publicity materials. Prepares and maintains required records and reports in a timely and accurate manner and/or supervises subordinate staff in report preparation. Inputs data into computerized database system. Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns and complaints of customers and the general public. Monitors facility and equipment for safety and proper condition; may prepare work orders for maintenance work as needed. Performs general administrative/office duties as required, including conducting and attending meetings, preparing reports and correspondence, entering computer data, copying and filing documents, faxing information, answering the telephone, assembling materials, etc. Operates city vehicles, including passenger vans, and a variety of equipment such as a computer, printer, audio-visual equipment, copier, fax machine, telephone, laminator, binder, etc. Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, other City department heads and personnel, subordinates, sales representatives, participants and their family members, community organizations, news media, and the general public. Performs related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED and 1 year of experience in senior services programs; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. Must obtain first aid and CPR certification within 60 days of employment. Must successfully pass a level II background screening.

Ability to demonstrate a polite, helpful, and courteous manner when engaged in any activity with the general public. Ability to operate and care for equipment to manufacturer's specifications and/or within the specified parameters. Ability to demonstrate an understanding, consideration, and respect of cultural, religious, and gender differences when interacting with the general public and colleagues
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires light physical effort including lifting up to 25 pounds. May require occasional crouching, kneeling, bending, or stooping. Frequent periods of standing or walking may be required.
GENERAL BENEFITS
The City of Miramar provides benefits for its permanent full-time and part-time employees. Benefits will differ dependent upon the job classification and representation, which include union and unrepresented. Vacation Permanent full-time employees earn up to ten days of vacation during their first year of employment. Accrual begins from the first month of employment, but cannot be used until after the third month of employment. Permanent part-time employees have the opportunity to earn vacation after the completion of one year of continuous service. Sick Leave Permanent full-time employees accrue sick leave at the rate of one day per month. Accrual begins from the first month of employment, but cannot be used until after the third month of employment. Permanent part-time employees have the opportunity to earn sick leave after the completion of one year of continuous service. Health Plan The City currently provides medical coverage through Aetna. The City pays the health insurance premium for the employee and 50% of the premium for dependents. Permanent full-time employees have the option of electing coverage from three plans: Health Network Only Plan (HMO), High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with HSA and Open Access Managed Choice Plan (POS). Permanent part-time employees have the option of electing coverage from two plans: Health Network Only Plan (HMO) and the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) The City also offers Dental coverage through Delta Dental. Pension (Defined Benefit Plan) Permanent full-time employees are automatically enrolled in one of the City sponsored pension plans, which are funded by mandatory City and employee contributions. The Plan provides a guaranteed income, based on years of service, to its members upon retirement. 457(b) Plan (Deferred Compensation Plan) Employees can elect to participate in this Plan, which enables the employee the option of deferring compensation on a pretax basis, not to exceed the applicable limits established by the IRC. Employee Assistance Program The City of Miramar provides an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for employees and their eligible dependents.
