Job Description

Primary responsibility for administration of all servers under the purview of Office of Information Technology.

Design, install, administer, and optimize servers and related components to achieve high performance of the various applications supported by tuning the servers as necessary. This includes tracking server activity, performing upgrades, back up and implementation, log auditing, addressing questions about technical problems, improving efficiency, ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring all new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment. The Server Administrator will assist in overseeing the physical security, integrity, and safety of the data center. Manages and troubleshoots Microsoft and open source OS platforms and applications. Serves as backup to the Telecommunications Administrator. Assists with infrastructure duties which include documenting, planning, configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting. Provides advanced technical assistance to resolve escalated help desk tickets. This position is required to provide after-hours support at predetermined dates and times based on scheduling, available resources, and special needs. During special situations, may need to provide after-hours support at times that are not predetermined. Other duties as assigned A Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience Candidates must possess the interpersonal skills to relate to a variety of campus constituents and possess a superior customer service-based work ethic. Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills combined with the ability to work with little supervision in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to operate in a mission-critical capacity and the ability to function in a rapidly changing and expanding environment.
