POSITION SUMMARY
The Technical Services Specialist I provides technical support for classroom, office, and campus technology systems. This position assists with the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computer hardware, software, peripheral devices, and audio-visual equipment throughout the College. The Technical Services Specialist I works collaboratively with other Technical Services staff to ensure reliable technology services and supports technology needs for College events, meetings, and special activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Respond to, and resolve, computer & audio-visual support requests from faculty, staff, and students. Monitor the Technical Services help desk support system; respond and provide support for incoming tickets based on priority. Assist with the installation and support of computer hardware, software, and audio-visual equipment in college facilities. Work with other department members to schedule, set up, and provide technical support for classroom activities and college-sponsored events. Required Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Associate's Degree in Information Technology or High School Diploma and currently enrolled in Associate's Degree program in Information Technology (or equivalent) with experience troubleshooting and supporting computer hardware and software in a professional environment.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel in both verbal and written form. Must be able to prioritize multiple requests in a timely manner. Should possess a good working knowledge of desktop hardware and software systems. Physical Demands
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to receive, process, and provide visual and verbal information. Must be able to work effectively in stressful situations. Provide timely response to externally/internally imposed conditions and deadlines. Respond to concurrent, multiple, non-related issues. Work is routinely performed in an office environment. Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling, using hands and fingers, and stooping. Work is occasionally performed in academic classrooms, laboratories, and data wiring closets. Subject to occasionally climbing steep stairs & ladders and lifting objects up to 50lbs.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Typical work hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed. There may be irregular hours periodically including weekend and/or evening hours for support of special events. Summer hours may vary. This position may be eligible for the alternative work. TRAVEL Local travel to satellite locations is expected to assist with necessary setup and support of campus technology.
