But we all share one goal: to improve the world responsibly and safely. KBR is seeking an Engineering Systems Specialist to support real‑time operations of the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). This role ensures spacecraft health and safety, executes command operations, manages ground systems, and supports science data flow to NASA and the Space Telescope Science Institute. Key Responsibilities Monitor HST real‑time health and safety and execute all HST's manual commanding Manage automated command engines, generate and execute flight plans, and TDRSS schedule updates Verify science data products (PACOR) and support data transfer processes Execute daily subsystem and operational tasks (star maps, OBSINTs, ephemeris, load management) Configure and maintain ground system components (Control Center Systems (CCS) strings, Sensory and Calibration Servers, Command Communication Coordinates interface configurations with NASA and HST entities, including: Subsystems Engineers, CCS Response Team, Operations Systems Administrators, NASA Operations Manager, Ground Stations, WSC, NCC, NASCOM and STSci (Scheduling, OPUS, and PASS) Coordinate with NASA centers, subsystem engineers, operations teams, and ground stations Develop, update, and improve operational procedures Provide on‑call support for spacecraft, network, and ground‑system anomalies Assist MOSES‑II and subsystem engineering teams as needed; support cross‑training and growth Required Qualifications Bachelor's in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related engineering field 6+ years engineering experience Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic operational environment that requires rapid response times. A collaborative team player who works effectively with others, is reliable and always willing to support and assist other team members. Strong communication, including proactively asking questions, suggest improvements for procedures, or ways to enhance operations. Willingness to take on additional tasks during slower periods to support other teams as needed Flexibility to work hybrid or fully onsite schedules depending on HST mission requirements Ability to support on-call and/or unplanned work assignments during nights/weekends to support mission critical tasks. Commitment to continuous learning across multiple spacecraft subsystems Preferred Skills Test systems experience (HITT) Spacecraft or TDRSS communications experience Interest in advancing toward Subsystem Engineer roles Experience and/or Education in lieu of these qualifications will be reviewed for applicability to meet these requirements.Basic Compensation:
$115,300 - $173,000 - USD Annual The offered rate will be based on contract affordability and the selected candidate's working location, knowledge, skills, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
