This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, working independently, and taking ownership of the systems they support. Rather than traveling from project to project, this technician will be assigned long-term to one customer facility in the Detroit area , becoming the primary onsite ACI resource for that location. You'll be the only ACI technician regularly working at the facility, but you won't be working alone. You'll be closely connected with our experienced Customer Service team at ACI headquarters in Ripon, Wisconsin, who will provide remote technical support, troubleshooting assistance, programming resources, parts coordination, and additional support when needed. What This Position Looks Like This isn't a traditional traveling Field Technician position. Instead of moving from project to project across the country, you'll be assigned to one customer facility near Detroit for long-term support . You'll become familiar with the facility, its systems, equipment, and customer needs and serve as ACI's dedicated onsite technical resource. Because you'll be ACI's primary onsite presence, we're looking for someone who is dependable, technically capable, professional, and comfortable working independently. What You'll Do As the onsite Customer Service Technician, you'll help maintain, troubleshoot, and support the facility's security electronics systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
Serve as ACI's primary onsite technical resource at the assigned customer facility Troubleshoot issues involving low-voltage wiring, electronic equipment, computers, software, and integrated security systems Diagnose system issues and determine appropriate solutions Test, repair, replace, and configure system components as needed Perform routine service and support of electronic systems Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation Work directly with ACI's in-house Customer Service team to troubleshoot more complex issues Communicate with Programming, Engineering, Project Management, and other ACI departments when additional resources are needed Coordinate replacement equipment and parts with the Ripon office Document service activity, completed work, and outstanding issues Communicate professionally with customer personnel and provide updates on service needs Maintain an organized onsite work area, tools, equipment, and materials Follow all ACI and facility safety and security procedures Stay current on applicable system certifications and continuing education Perform other customer service and technical duties as needed Independent Onsite — Supported by an Entire Team You'll be the only ACI technician regularly stationed at this facility , so being comfortable working independently is an important part of the position. But independent doesn't mean unsupported. You'll work closely with our Customer Service team in Ripon throughout the day. If you encounter an issue that requires additional troubleshooting, programming assistance, engineering knowledge, replacement equipment, or another perspective, you'll have an experienced team available remotely to help. You'll be expected to take ownership of issues onsite while also knowing when to reach out and bring additional ACI resources into the conversation. What We're Looking For For this position, previous low-voltage or related technical experience is important. Since you'll eventually serve as ACI's primary onsite resource, we're looking for someone who already has a solid technical foundation and can continue learning our specific systems.Our ideal candidate:
Has previous low-voltage installation, service, or troubleshooting experience Is comfortable working independently and being the primary onsite ACI representative Has experience troubleshooting wiring, electronic equipment, computers, networking, security electronics, or related systems Can read and understand blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams Enjoys troubleshooting and figuring out how things work Is dependable and maintains strong attendance Takes ownership of problems and follows through Communicates professionally with customers and coworkers Is comfortable asking for assistance and collaborating remotely Is organized and able to clearly document completed work Can prioritize issues and manage time independently Is adaptable and able to remain calm when unexpected technical issues arise Is trustworthy, professional, and reliable Qualifications Previous low-voltage, electrical, electronics, security systems, access control, structured cabling, or related technical experience preferred Associate degree or technical degree in a related field preferred; relevant hands-on experience will also be considered Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and documentation Strong verbal and written communication skills Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other computer-based systems Valid driver's license Ability to meet all customer facility access requirements Must be legally authorized to work in the United States Getting Started with ACI You'll begin with approximately two weeks of hands-on training at Accurate Controls headquarters in Ripon, Wisconsin . During this time, you'll become familiar with ACI's systems, equipment, processes, and the Customer Service team you'll be working with. After your initial training, you'll spend time working alongside an experienced ACI technician , gaining hands-on experience with our systems and learning how our technicians approach troubleshooting and customer support. As you gain experience and become comfortable with ACI's systems, you'll transition into the long-term Detroit-area assignment. We want you to know not only the technology you'll be supporting, but also the people and resources available to you when you're working onsite. Physical Requirements This is an active, hands-on technical position.Candidates must be able to:
