Available About the Role PGTEK is seeking a Senior Linux Cluster System Administrator to provide hands-on technical support and system administration for a large-scale Linux cluster environment supporting a mission-critical customer at Stennis Space Center. This role will focus on maintaining system health, security, operational continuity, and overall performance of a complex Linux environment. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted technical advisor to the customer, work independently to troubleshoot complex issues, and provide knowledge transfer to customer system administrators. The environment is based around an HPC solution, and training on the specific HPC system tools will be provided. Responsibilities Perform general system administration for a large-scale Linux cluster environment. Monitor and maintain overall system health and operational continuity. Troubleshoot and resolve complex Linux system issues. Respond to customer requests and provide timely technical support. Plan, coordinate, and execute system upgrades. Identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities. Maintain the security posture of systems operating on the customer network. Provide knowledge transfer and technical guidance to customer system administrators. Build and maintain strong customer relationships while serving as a trusted technical advisor. Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and relevant technical domains. Independently develop and apply methods, techniques, and criteria to solve highly complex technical problems. Requirements Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance. 10+ years of professional Linux system administration experience. Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale or clustered Linux environments. Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex Linux system issues. Ability to work independently in a highly technical and complex environment. Strong communication and customer-facing skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience administering large-scale Linux server fleets, preferably 100+ nodes. Experience with distributed job scheduling or orchestration platforms such as Slurm, PBS, Kubernetes, or similar technologies. Experience working in High Performance Computing (HPC) environments. Experience with parallel or distributed filesystems such as Lustre, GPFS, Ceph, or similar technologies. Familiarity with clustered computing environments and enterprise-scale Linux infrastructure. Required Certifications CompTIA Security+ CompTIA Linux+ Additional Information This is an onsite position at Stennis Space Center, Mississippi. The position does not require routine travel. The selected candidate will work within an HPC environment and will receive training on the specific HPC system tools used by the customer.
