Description and Requirements Overview The IT Intern will support the IT and Infrastructure team with daytoday technical tasks, basic troubleshooting, and operational support. This role provides handson experience in an enterprise IT environment and is ideal for students interested in learning how corporate IT systems are managed and supported at scale. As an IT Intern, you will work alongside experienced IT professionals to support hardware, networking, systems administration, and IT service management activities. You will gain practical exposure to IT tools, processes, and best practices while helping ensure smooth daily operations for internal users.
Key Responsibilities:
IT Support & Troubleshooting Assist with daytoday IT support tasks, including hardware setup, software installation, system updates, and user onboarding. Provide firstlevel troubleshooting for common technical issues such as network connectivity problems, application access issues, and basic hardware malfunctions. Escalate more complex issues to senior IT staff with clear documentation and context. IT Service Management Support IT ticketing systems by logging, tracking, prioritizing, and resolving simple service requests and incidents. Communicate clearly with end users regarding issue status, resolution steps, and followup actions. Help ensure service requests are handled in accordance with IT service management processes and SLAs. Infrastructure & Hardware Support Assist with the setup, maintenance, and organization of laptops, desktops, peripherals, and lab equipment. Support basic networking tasks, such as verifying connectivity, assisting with cable management, and documenting network configurations. Help maintain and organize IT labs, storage areas, and equipment rooms. Inventory, Documentation & Administration Help maintain IT asset inventory, including tracking hardware, software licenses, and equipment assignments. Create and update documentation for standard procedures, troubleshooting steps, and system configurations. Assist with logging and recordkeeping related to IT operations and infrastructure changes. Projects, Security & Continuous Improvement Participate in IT projects, system upgrades, and infrastructure improvements as assigned. Follow IT security policies and best practices when handling systems, user data, and company information. Support routine security tasks such as patching, updates, and access control checks under supervision. Identify opportunities to improve IT processes, documentation, or user experience.
Required Qualifications:
Education Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Required Skills Strong problemsolving skills with the ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues. Understanding of computer science fundamentals, including operating systems, hardware, and basic networking concepts. Ability to follow technical instructions and document work clearly. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Willingness to learn and work in a fastpaced IT environment.
Preferred / Optional
Skills Familiarity with computer software and operating systems (Windows, macOS, or Linux). Basic knowledge of IT networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, WiFi). Experience using Microsoft Office 365 or similar productivity tools. Exposure to IT ticketing systems or help desk environments.
