Job Description
State Family Services Specialist (Bilingual Spanish-English Required) Telamon Corporation - TRC Overview Description Telamon is an eleven-state, non-profit corporation headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina serving communities for 55 years. Telamon's mission is to provide educational services that lead to better jobs, better lives, and better communities. Telamon provides programs and services in three areas, Early Childhood and Family Support, Workforce Career Services, and Housing & Financial Empowerment.
POSITION SUMMARY
Provide support to staff who work with families to build relationships that support family well-being, strong relationships between parents and their children, and ongoing learning and development for both parents and children. Assist in collaboration with community partners to build peer networks, link families and children to needed services, and support successful transitions for children and families.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist Coordinator to develop, implement and evaluate systems for the delivery of family and community services including ERSEA and Parent, Family and Community Engagement. Includes center and, where applicable, home base services. 2. Work with Coordinator to ensure staff implement ongoing recruitment activities to maintain enrollment, including children with disabilities and their families. 3. Monitor family services throughout program. Collect and use quality data to support the use of effective family engagement practices that have a positive impact on family and child outcomes, including school readiness. 4. Participate in the development of integrated school readiness plans. 5. Assists in development of program training plan. Facilitates and provides training, coaching and technical assistance to staff, parents and volunteers. 6. Works cooperatively with staff to integrate parent engagement, and family services with education, disability, health and nutrition services. 7. Works in coordination with Coordinator and center staff to implement effective system of shared governance through Policy Council and Parent Committee structure. 8. Meets federal, state, and program documentation requirements by maintaining accurate, objective, complete, timely, and well-organized child and family records. Creates and submits reports as assigned. Composes and proofreads correspondence and reports. 9. Provide guidance to staff as they work to support families in addressing challenges (e.g., mental illness, substance abuse, disabilities, family violence) that affect their well-being. 10. The person in this position must have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. 11. Protects the safety of children by ensuring the implementation of active supervision techniques to ensure no child is left alone or unsupervised at any time. 12. Ensures the mobilization and documentation of matching/in-kind funds. 13. Develop and document progress on professional development plan for self. Facilitates and engages in professional development activities to increase qualifications in accordance with Corporation's Core Values. 14. Act as second level reviewer, as assigned, for intake/enrollment applications and eligibility determinations to ensure compliance. 15. Participates in staff and parent meetings and training sessions. 16. May translate. 17. Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no direct supervisory duties but is expected to train or explain work procedures to others. Education and Experience Requirements • A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling or related field is required•. Must be able to get certification for CPR and First Aid after hire and recertify as required. Must have a willingness to work towards any additional credentials needed to move to the next level in the position, this may include continued education. Minimum of one year of related work experience. Experience providing adult training and education preferred. Must have own transportation, a valid driver's license, and vehicle insurance. Degree in a related field is defined as an associate, baccalaureate or advanced degree in a field other than social work that either includes or is supplemented by twelve (12) college credits in social services, family services or human services. Skills and Abilities Microsoft Office products and on-line client management systems. Bilingual ability is required. All employees are subject to both a pre-hire and an annual background check. Specific rules by Line of Business will indicate whether a state or federal fingerprint background check (or both) is required and the frequency. A fingerprint background check may suffice for a regular background check. Additional background checks may be required such as the Child Abuse and Neglect State Registry, and the Sex Offender Registry. Positions that Require Driving (as designated by supervisor) Telamon Corporation/Transition Resources employees that are required to drive a personal vehicle for work-related duties are to meet the auto insurance liability requirement. The minimum limits required are $100,000 each person bodily injury, $300,000 each accident bodily injury and $50,000 property damage. The insurance liability requirement covers use of an employee's personal vehicle. Telamon Corporation/Transition Resources employees that drive a company-owned/rental vehicle must maintain a satisfactory annual motor vehicle record check.
