SUMMARY OF POSITION
The systems administrator will provide knowledge and support to ensure that hardware, network and software systems are implemented and supported effectively throughout the Claremont School District. The administrator will assist the Director of Technology to improve the design, availability and reliability of the SAU#6 data, telecommunications and security systems to ensure they are managed and maintained effectively to meet the growing demands of all users.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Ensure system reliability and performance through proactive monitoring and infrastructure management.
  • Support senior administrators in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of macOS/iOS and Windows systems across physical and virtual environments.
  • Configure and maintain core infrastructure services, including NAS storage, firewalls, directory services (Active Directory and Group Policy), VLANs, and routing.
  • Manage centralized workstation administration, including patching, policy enforcement, software deployment, and endpoint protection.
  • Develop and maintain automation to streamline system deployment and ongoing management.
  • Support server and backup systems, including configuration, testing, maintenance, and recovery validation.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve network performance, connectivity, and security issues.
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with data privacy and information security standards.
  • Provide timely, professional end-user support for desktop, AV, networking, printing, IP phone systems, and related technologies.
  • Manage firewall services, including content filtering, intrusion prevention, port management, and routing rules.
  • Evaluate, test, and recommend hardware and software solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize workloads, manage daily operations, and support special projects.
  • Communicate help desk status and resolutions via ticketing systems, email, phone, and in person.
  • Maintain accurate system documentation to support business continuity and continuous improvement.
  • Assist the Director of Technology with projects and other assigned initiatives.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND LICENSURE
  • Associate Degree or higher in computer science, information technology, or networking technologies and/or 3+ years in related fields.
Bachelor's Degree preferred.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • 3+ years network design and implementation experience.
LAN/WLAN
support in a multi-location, mixed platform environment.
  • 3+ years Windows Server 2019/2022 design and implementation experience (must include Hyper-V, VMware, Active Directory, Group Policy, scripting, and service administration and integration).
  • 3+ years supporting Windows OS and ChromeOS end users.
  • 3+ years managing routers, switches, VLANS, and port level security.
  • 1+ years experience with Linux distros Debian and RedHat
  • 1+ years managing firewall security services.
  • 1+ years ExtremeCloud IQ experience.
  • 1+ years experience administering LAN-based IP Phones and intercom systems
  • 1+ years supporting and administering LAN-based surveillance cameras, door access systems, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast paced technical environment.
  • ability to work fantastically well with technical and non-technical users.
