We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and technically skilled Part-Time (possibly Contract), IT Systems Administrator to support and maintain our company's technology infrastructure in Rochester, NH. This role is responsible for end-to-end IT health in a small business manufacturing environment, spanning user account administration, network support, server management, cybersecurity monitoring, software licensing, and operational technology (OT) support. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, self-directed, and capable of managing a wide range of infrastructure responsibilities independently.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
User Account & Access Management Create, modify, and deactivate user accounts in Google Workspace and Windows Active Directory. Manage user permissions, group memberships, and security settings. Administer multi-factor authentication (MFA) and user security policies. Maintain accurate records of user accounts and access privileges. Google Workspace Administration Manage Google Workspace users, groups, and organizational units (OUs). Create and maintain Shared Drives and access permissions. Troubleshoot email, calendar, and collaboration platform issues. Support Google Workspace security and compliance settings. Server & Storage Management Maintain local Windows Server environments and Active Directory services. Manage file server storage, permissions, folder structures, and backups. Monitor server performance and storage capacity. Coordinate data organization, archival and retention practices. End-User Support Provide technical support for desktop computers, laptops, printers, and peripheral devices. Diagnose and resolve hardware malfunctions, software glitches, and connectivity issues. Perform workstation setup, provisioning, imaging, deployment, and upgrades. Support personnel both remotely and on-site at our Rochester facility. Network Administration Troubleshoot network connectivity, latency, and performance bottlenecks. Configure and maintain network hardware, including switches, routers, and wireless access points (WAPs). Install, trace, and organize network cabling and equipment racks. Maintain accurate documentation of network infrastructure and topology maps. Cybersecurity & Antivirus Management Monitor and respond to ESET antivirus alerts and security notifications. Implement and maintain endpoint protection policies across all company devices. Assist with cybersecurity best practices, user awareness, and risk mitigation. Audit user security settings and access controls routinely. Software & Licensing Management Administer CAD and CAM software licensing structures (including concurrent/network licenses). Track software subscriptions, compliance logs, and upcoming renewals. Coordinate technical software installations, upgrades, and escalated vendor support. Manufacturing Systems Support Support CNC machine network connectivity, drops, and communication lines Troubleshoot network-related downtime affecting shop-floor manufacturing equipment. Coordinate directly with manufacturing equipment vendors for IT-related resolutions. Documentation & Continuous Improvement Maintain comprehensive IT documentation, system inventories, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Proactively recommend improvements to infrastructure systems, security, and operational efficiency. Assist leadership with technology planning and lifecycle implementation projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
3+ years of proven IT administration or advanced technical support experience.
Environments:
Hands-on experience with Google Workspace administration AND Windows Server/Active Directory.
Networking:
Clear understanding of TCP/IP networking, managed switches, wireless networks, and structured cabling.
Hardware:
Professional experience supporting, repairing, and imaging desktop and laptop hardware.
Security:
Familiarity with modern cybersecurity best practices and endpoint protection platforms.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical troubleshooting skills paired with excellent communication and client service abilities.
Vendor Management:
Experience managing software licenses and interface points with third-party vendors.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Direct experience supporting IT infrastructure within a manufacturing environment (CNC equipment communication). Hands-on experience with ESET Endpoint Security products. Demonstrated knowledge of modern backup architectures and disaster recovery practices. Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, or Google Workspace certifications).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to safely lift and install computer, server, and networking equipment up to 50 pounds. Ability to navigate and work effectively across office spaces, server rooms, and industrial manufacturing environments as needed.
