Job Description

Job Description Insight Global is seeking an Embedded Linux Software Engineer to support mission-critical systems within the C5 division for one of our largest federal clients. This role will focus on developing and integrating Linux-based embedded software solutions that interface directly with advanced hardware platforms and real-time systems. The ideal candidate has strong experience in embedded Linux environments, low-level programming (C/C++), and system integration, with the ability to contribute across the full lifecycle—from design and development to hardware/software integration and testing.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded Linux software applications using C/C
  • Work within Linux-based and real-time operating system (RTOS) environments to build mission-critical solutions
  • Collaborate with hardware, systems, and test engineering teams to define and implement hardware/software interfaces
  • Develop and customize Linux distributions, kernel modules, and device drivers
  • Support board bring-up activities and integration of software on embedded hardware platforms

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 4-8+ years of experience in embedded software development in Linux environments
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming for low-level and systems development
  • Experience working with embedded Linux systems (kernel, drivers, or BSPs)
  • Familiarity with hardware/software integration in embedded environments
  • Secret Clearance
