Job Description

Job Title:
System Administrator II Summary:
The System Administrator II provides intermediate to advanced technical expertise supporting military information systems, networks, and mission‑critical infrastructure. This role is responsible for maintaining secure, reliable, and compliant IT environments in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) standards, cybersecurity regulations, and operational requirements. The System Administrator II serves as a key technical resource for troubleshooting, system optimization, and administration of servers, workstations, and network services across garrison, deployed, or classified environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain Windows, Linux, and virtualized servers supporting mission systems and DoD applications. Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, and system performance monitoring. Perform system patches, updates, and
IAVA/IAVM
compliance in accordance with DoD cybersecurity directives. Conduct system backups, recovery operations, continuity planning, and disaster recovery testing. Troubleshoot Tier II-III incidents involving hardware, software, network connectivity, and user access issues. Maintain and update system documentation, diagrams, inventories, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Monitor system logs, audit trails, and security events to support cybersecurity and risk management activities. Support accreditation efforts under RMF (Risk Management Framework) and assist with STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guide) hardening. Manage virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper‑V for server provisioning and resource optimization. Provide technical support to military personnel, mission partners, and leadership during operations, exercises, and deployments. Coordinate with network operations, cybersecurity teams, and system owners to ensure reliable and secure mission operations. Participate in after-hours or on‑call support as required by mission tempo.
Required Qualifications:
Experience administering systems in DoD, military, or government environments. Proficiency with Windows Server and/or Linux server administration. Understanding of DoD cybersecurity policies, including STIGs and RMF. Ability to troubleshoot complex system and network issues. Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper‑V). Active security clearance (or ability to obtain), based on mission requirements. DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional certifications such as Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE), Linux+ / RHCSA, VMware (VCP), or similar. Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation. Familiarity with SCCM, JAMF, or similar enterprise management tools. Experience supporting tactical networks or deployed environments.

Pay:
$70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
