Job Description

Network Administrator POSTED Wednesday, June 10, 2026 Elmira College is a private liberal arts College located in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Elmira College was the first college to offer a comprehensive curriculum for women, and is home of the Center for Mark Twain Studies. We are seeking a Network Administrator to join the IT team. The Network Administrator reports to the Director of IT Infrastructure and Operations and operates within the Infrastructure Services area of the Information Technology department with responsibilities for designing, installing, securing, monitoring, maintaining, and supporting the College's network and telecommunications infrastructure.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Design, install, secure, monitor, maintain, and support the College's network and telecommunications infrastructure, including structured cabling. Provide primary support for the network management tools, such as Aruba Central, Aruba ClearPass, SonicWall Firewall, and NEC PBX. Monitor network performance and support troubleshooting efforts using remote management and monitoring tools, such as Aruba Central, and PTRG. Provide day-to-day support to ensure the network and telecom equipment is operating correctly. Review and update VLAN and IP Address schemas to support the needs of IT and the college. Analyze network activity and network problems to discover and prevent systematic errors and vulnerabilities. Perform and test network configuration backups and restores to ensure the ability to recover from error or outage. Update and maintain documentation of network configurations, cabling layouts, and fiber maps. Participate in updating network policies and procedures. Collaborate with the IT Security and Compliance Team to ensure network security best practices. Collaborate with Systems Administrator in support of network services, such as: DNS, DHCP, RADIUS, etc. Work closely with members of Facilities in support of Access Control Systems and Surveillance Cameras. Monitor alerts and emails and respond to emergencies in a timely manner. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
B.S. in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent experience. At least 3 years of relevant work experience as a network technician, network engineer, network administrator, or similar role. Experience implementing, managing, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices, such as switches, routers, wireless controllers, wireless access points, and firewalls. Working knowledge of network protocols and network routing protocols. Network certifications preferred.

$62,353.20 annually This position is benefit eligible.
