Systems Administrator

Black River Systems Company, an established research-oriented engineering firm headquartered in Utica, NY, is looking for a System Administrator to work primarily onsite at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) in Rome, NY. This candidate will manage the operation and maintenance of computer networks, provide technical assistance, and ensure compliance with government policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

Drive a continuous-integration/continuous-delivery (CI/CD) pipeline that accelerates deployment of secure, mission-ready capabilities. Serve as the primary point of contact for resolving, or escalating, issues related to hardware, software and network problems. Ensure system monitoring, integrity and availability of hardware, network, and server resources maintaining a healthy system posture across Windows and Linux hosts. Perform the configuration, installation, testing, and staging of new computer systems. Ensure hardware and software assets are accurately monitored using Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tooling. Support investigation of security incidents such as data spills, loss of data integrity and malware-driven events. Implement automation and AI-driven workflows in coordination with an operations team. Promote maintainable, well-documented, and secure system practices within a research-focused lab environment

Position Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience. At least one activeInformation Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, RHCSA, CySA+, GICSP, CCNA, CEH, CND, CASP+, CISSP). US citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain government security clearance. Experience with Linux Server and Microsoft Active Directory administration. Basic knowledge of automation platforms and Windows Server Update Services. Working knowledge of containers and container orchestration. Effective communication, documentation, and collaboration skills. Strong networking fundamentals (LAN/WAN, DNS, DHCP and IP addressing). Pay:

$75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
