The Educational Systems Administrator is responsible for performing administration and compliance activities for the District's student information and educational management information systems (SIS/EMIS); performs related duties as required. This job posting is for a noncompetitive position and will create a new list. The hiring department will conduct a preliminary review of your application to determine who to interview. (Any one position may not include all the duties listed nor do the examples cover all the duties that may be performed): Provides reliable daily systems evaluation and support for the District's student information and educational management information systems (SIS/EMIS), including upgrades and systems health status; Writes advanced or complex queries and programs to extract data from a variety of databases; verifies accuracy of data; uploads corrected and/or verified data intoSIS/EMIS
as required; Ensures thatSIS/EMIS
reporting data complies with local, state, and federal standards, and that required reporting deadlines are met; Analyzes and resolves problems associated with student and educational information systems software; detects, diagnoses, reports, and corrects problems; communicates with programmers and other IT staff to resolve issues; Maintains accurate compliance documentation and administrative information for theSIS/EMIS
; Confers with management to determine user requirements, procedures, and problems in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness of existing student and educational information systems; researches, analyzes, and tests application or system software for compatibility and capability to perform necessary job assignments; Provides technical assistance to both internal and external clients; modifies and adapts software features and functions and/or structures to meet the needs of the District; Writes student and educational information system documentation, program specifications, production procedures, and/other documentation that may include user manuals and instructions; Provides training to staff and coaches subordinate personnel in the performance of their duties, raising their overall technical knowledge; Participates in Districtwide student and educational information technology projects; participates in professional activities to remain knowledgeable regarding developments in the field of student and educational information systems management administration.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a bachelor's degree with significant coursework (21 semester or 32 quarter hours) in computer science, mathematics, or a closely related field, Five (5) years of experience in data analysis and research, three (3) years of which must include experience using analytic software in a student information and/or educational management information system.Substitution:
Additional years of the specified experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of data analysis processes and procedures Thorough knowledge of data quality assurance processes and procedure Thorough knowledge of relational databases and data retrieval methods Thorough knowledge of research and problem-solving techniques Thorough knowledge of SQL Considerable knowledge of documentation and report writing procedures; considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Excel; Considerable knowledge of the techniques used to write queries and programs Ability to use logic and analysis to solve problems Ability to develop priorities and work sequences Ability to prepare and maintain records Ability to organize and summarize information in written format Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with others.TEST/JOB CONTACT INFORMATION
