This role is responsible for administering, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting campus employees, servers, network infrastructure, to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient operations. Essential Duties:
Maintaining essential computer systems and networks. Monitoring performance and security events. Planning upgrades to existing systems and implementation of new systems. Supporting the organization's users through a ticketing system. Documenting of the organization's systems. Ensuring compliance with information security standards and best practices. Performing regular system backups.
Responsibilities:
Coordinates the functionality, efficiency, and security of an organization's computer systems. Installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware and software systems, ensuring network connectivity, and managing access rights. Monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions to enhance system reliability and performance. Implement and maintain robust security measures such as firewalls, encryption, and access controls to protect against cyber threats and unauthorized access. Responsible for data backup and disaster recovery planning to safeguard against potential data loss or system failures.
Qualifications:
Ability to independently research issues, document system standards, and troubleshoot hardware/software issues as needed. Ability to use active listening, patience, empathy and use time management effectively. Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and evolving security threats. Knowledge of network architecture and design. Strong documentation skills for maintaining detailed records of system configurations and procedures. Understanding of security best practices and protocols. Familiarity with Windows, MacOS, and Linux operating systems configuration and administration. Working knowledge of virtualization platforms (HyperV, VMWare). Knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols and technologies such as DHCP, DNS, etc. Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
Education and Experience:
Required:
AA in Computer Science or Computer Information 1 year experience functional IT experience. Experience in implementing backup solutions and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and system availability. Experience using HP, Cisco, and Meraki switch/router configuration and management. Familiarity with Fortigate firewall configuration and management. Working Knowledge of SaaS cloud infrastructure, specifically Google Workspace.
Preferred:
Bachelors degree of Arts or Science in Computer Science or Computer Information 2+ years' experience in a tech support position requiring independent decision making Experience working a nonprofit environment. Comptia A+ or equivalent CCNA or equivalent Sec+ or equivalent
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform work in a professional environment, including extended periods of sitting, computer use, and participating in meetings. Ability to stand, walk, and move through a multi-building campus environment. Occasional lifting and carrying of materials up to 35 pounds (e.g. Hardware, files, materials and supplies). Ability to attend campus-wide events, community functions, fundraising activities, and board meetings as needed for IT support. Visual and auditory ability sufficient to review electronic and written materials, engage in discussions and support the IT needs of the community.
