Position:
Part Time IT assistant
Responsibilities:
Assist with the setup, configuration, and deployment of desktop and laptop computers for employees Perform data sanitization, hard drive/RAM removal, and secure handling of retired IT assets in accordance with company procedures Install and configure local and network printers, drivers, display systems, and other peripherals Assist with routine system maintenance, including operating system and software patching and updates Provide basic troubleshooting and hardware replacement support for end-user workstations Assist with data transfer and user profile migration during computer refreshes Organize and maintain the server room, cable drawers, and IT storage areas Support decommissioning and inventory tracking of retired IT assets Provide day-to-day help desk support and assist the IT Manager with ad hoc technology requests
Certifications Preferred:
CompTIA A+ (or actively working toward) CompTIA Network+ (a plus, not required)
Required Experience & Skills:
Hands-on experience with computer setup, sanitization, and basic hardware repair Familiarity with installing drivers, peripherals, and local/network printers Basic understanding of system patching and software updates Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently on routine tasks and follow documented procedures Reliable and punctual, able to work part-time hours on-site in Middletown, RI Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance
Preferred Experience & Skills:
Prior internship or work-study experience in an IT support role Experience organizing IT storage or server rooms and cable management Exposure to event or A/V setup, including display systems and power distribution Interest in pursuing additional IT certifications
