  • Bachelor's degree or six years Position Overview The Journeyman Systems Administrator supports full-lifecycle engineering and technical sustainment of the FMWorkFlow (FMWF) system and associated infrastructure.
The role performs Windows/Linux administration, Active Directory and service-account engineering, Nutanix virtualization support, configuration-baseline and patch engineering, performance analysis, troubleshooting, backup/recovery support, development/test environment sustainment, and cybersecurity compliance activities in a mission-critical Air Force financial-system environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Administer, configure, maintain, patch, upgrade, monitor, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux systems supporting FMWF infrastructure.
  • Perform service-account configuration and Active Directory engineering, including access/account administration consistent with approved security controls and least-privilege principles.
  • Support enterprise virtualization engineering using Nutanix, including infrastructure health, capacity, performance, lifecycle sustainment, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform infrastructure performance analysis, capacity planning, root-cause engineering, and sustainable corrective actions for performance degradation.
  • Manage and maintain approved configuration baselines and support enterprise patch engineering and validation, including IAVAs, TCNOs, NOTAMs, and related directives within prescribed timelines.
  • Perform routine lifecycle sustainment and emergency corrective engineering necessary to maintain operational continuity and prevent loss or degradation of mission-critical capability.
  • Provide advanced technical escalation support as assigned, including diagnostics, log analysis, troubleshooting, and validation of corrective actions.
  • Implement approved system modifications required to maintain usability in evolving technical environments and validate system performance after implementation.
  • Support a controlled FMWF development/test environment, including configuration management, patch validation, test-data management, secure backup/off-site storage support, and production-readiness verification.
  • Support data protection, backup/recovery engineering, resilience planning, restoration testing, and COOP infrastructure sustainment/testing as requested by the PMO.
  • Coordinate with database and cybersecurity personnel to support cross-stack integration among
DB2, IBM
WebSphere middleware, and underlying infrastructure.
  • Support post-deployment performance validation and short-term sustainment of newly deployed capabilities.
  • Apply applicable Air Force cybersecurity requirements, DISA STIGs, security baselines, vulnerability-remediation requirements, and RMF controls to assigned systems.
  • Develop and maintain accurate system documentation, procedures, technical records, configuration information, and Section 508-compliant deliverables.
Required / Relevant
Technical Skills
  • Windows Server and Linux enterprise administration.
  • Active Directory, service accounts, enterprise authentication, system access, and configuration-baseline management.
  • Nutanix enterprise virtualization; familiarity with other virtualization platforms may be useful but is not a PWS requirement.
  • System monitoring, performance analysis, capacity planning, root-cause troubleshooting, patching, vulnerability remediation, and deployment validation.
  • Backup/recovery, resilience, COOP support, and development/test environment operations.
  • Scripting/automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ansible, or comparable technologies is beneficial.
  • Working familiarity with DB2/WebSphere integration dependencies and cybersecurity/RMF/STIG requirements. Preferred Experience
  • FMWF or comparable mission-critical financial-system infrastructure.
  • Air Force, AFFSO, SAF/FM, AFIMSC, or DoD enterprise systems administration.
  • Nutanix virtualization, controlled development/test environments, IAVA/TCNO remediation, and production deployment validation. Security, Access & Contract Compliance Requirements
  • Obtain and maintain the Government-required suitability, access, and security determinations applicable to assigned duties and comply with the DD254 and local installation requirements.
  • Maintain the minimum NACI/Entrance NACI required for personnel using unclassified Government Automated Information Systems (AIS), including email.
Personnel with root access to operate, modify, or maintain a Government system must meet the trustworthiness/background-investigation requirement specified by the
PWS/DD254.
  • Complete Air Force-mandated Information Assurance Awareness Training before access to Government computing resources and maintain required DD Form 2875 System Authorization Access Request documentation.
  • Obtain and properly display required CAC, Restricted Area Badge, contractor identification, and other installation credentials as applicable.
  • Immediately report known or suspected security violations or incidents and assist Government security-related inquiries or investigations as directed.
  • Protect Personally Identifiable Information (PII) in accordance with NIST SP 800-122 and comply with the Privacy Act, applicable Air Force security directives, Government-resource restrictions, and consent-to-monitoring requirements.
  • Complete the required Contractor Employee Non-Disclosure Agreement and use Government-furnished systems and resources for authorized official business only.
