Job Description:
We are seeking a
P25/PDAS
Technician to be responsible in maintaining DFW Airport's communication System including the 800mhz Public Safety Radio System and the Public Safety Distributed Antenna system in
VHF/UHF/700/800
bands. Under the direct supervision of the Life Safety Radio System Team Lead, this position resolves technical problems, participates in system upgrades, and monitors the performance of the P25 Radio System and Public Safety Distributed Antenna System. Required Experience (3+ years): Experience diagnosing repairing and installing mobile communications equipment Strong foundation and understanding of P25 LMR Systems and Distributed Antenna Systems Experience operating testing equipment such as spectrum analyzers, LMR Masters, watt meters and multimeters Proficiency with Microsoft 365 Demonstrated ability to perform physical tasks such as walking, standing, driving, lifting up to 50lbs and climbing ladders to access roof tops Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as an active member of the team Demonstrated ability to follow a scope of work, wiring diagrams and system drawings Proficient with EFJphnson P25 Atlas Systems Proficient with Fiplex/Honeywell Distributed Antenna Systems Strong multitasking time management and prioritization skills Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues via a systemic approach Knowledge of RF spectrum and antenna propagation Understanding of basic
IP Networking Required Education/Certification:
2-year degree, diploma or certification in
Electronics Responsibilities:
Maintaining and supporting trunked radio communications for DFW's Department of Public Safety Supporting P25 encryption Working with and maintaining a variety of communication equipment including, but not limited to, EFJohnson P25 Atlas radio systems, Key Management Facility systems, Eventide recording systems, Viavi/NEC microwave systems, Spectracom GPS units, Zetron Dispatch Consoles, Castlerock Alarm reporting and Fiplex/Honeywell Distributed Antenna Systems Researching and performing system upgrades with minimal disruption to radio operations Troubleshooting problems using Anritsu Site Masters, Aeroflex 8800's and other various diagnostic equipment Monitor system alarms via castlerock Responding to and resolving emergency issues with 24x7x365 on-call support Responding to and resolving tickets via Salesforce Maintaining and refreshing Database backups weekly/monthly across the system and storing them offline to comply with DFWIA's disaster recovery policies Generating reports and call statistics on weekly basis for review Performing weekly site checks across DFWIA for both the P25 Radio System and Distributed Antenna System Assisting team members with onsite and remote support as needed Attending weekly coordination meetings pertinent to the
Life Safety Team Airport Special Requirements:
Must obtain an Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport's Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a badge upon each badge renewal. Must be able pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) finger-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility
