Primary Purpose:
Responsible for the daily management of assigned unit to include staff supervision and development, planning, budget, quality, and facility operations and coordinating patient services to ensure high quality patient care and optimal outcomes.Benefits:

Minimum Specifications:
Education style="margin-top:0.0in;margin-bottom:0.0in" type="disc- -Must have a Bachelor's of Science (BSN) degree in Nursing. Experience style="margin-top:0.0in;margin-bottom:0.0in" type="disc
- -Must have four (4) years of professional nursing experience.
Preferred Experience:
style="margin-top:0.0in;margin-bottom:0.0in" type="disc- -Emergency Department experience with managing a wide range of emergencies, including cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and trauma cases in high-acuity, fast-paced hospital setting preferred.
- Previous experience in a Level I
- Level II Trauma, teaching hospital or academic medical center preferred.
Certification/Registration/Licensure:
- Please note, certification(s) must clearly indicate the expiration date and are valid for at least 30 days beyond the start date. style="margin-top:0.0in;margin-bottom:0.0in" type="disc
- -Must have current, valid RN license or temporary RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing, or valid Compact RN license.
- Current/Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) healthcare provider certification card at the time of hire, and the ability to maintain thereafter from one of the following: American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network.
- Current/Valid Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification at the time of hire, and the ability to maintain thereafter from one of the following: American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network.
- Current incumbents will have 30 days from 12/11/2024 attain the certification.
- Current/Valid Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification within 30 days of hire or placement in the role, and the ability to maintain thereafter from one of the following: American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network. Current incumbents will have 30 days from 12/11/2024 attain the certification.
- Current/Valid Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) certification within 90 days from the date of hire or placement into the role to attain the certification. and the ability to maintain thereafter. Current incumbents will have 90 days from 12/11/2024 attain the certification.
- Must have SAMA certification, levels 1-2 within 30 days upon hire or placement in the role, and the ability to maintain thereafter. Current incumbents will have 30 days from 12/11/2024 attain the certification.
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) or Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing daily unit activities to ensure high quality patient care and optimal outcomes.
- Selects, trains, supervises, motivates, and evaluates assigned staff.
- Serves as a clinical resource, maintains skills, and promotes staff development.
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective unit procedures.
- Responsible for a collaborative work team to ensure positive working relationships. Communicates effectively with physicians, students, and other departments such as Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, Environmental and Linen Services. Maintains good communication with other hospitals, government/regulatory agencies, and community representatives.
- Responsible for performance improvement practices on the unit.
- Responsible for effective facility management as measured by cleanliness, proper type, amount and functioning of equipment and overall environmental safety.
- Develops and administers the annual budget (capital, operating and payroll) to ensure that the unit has the necessary funds to carry out established goals and objectives. Monitors charges and supplies, initiates orders, requisitions and supervises capital improvements.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates unit annual goals and personal goals consistent with Parkland and Department mission and goals.
- Serves on multidisciplinary and Departmental committees as selected and assigned.
- Trauma Managers

- -Responsible for management of the Trauma Nurse Clinicians regarding their performance, the Trauma Systems performance, and overall trauma outcomes.
- Coordinates and assists with the day to day activities of the Trauma staff, serving as primary system resource to coordinate, facilitate and enhance the service levels for all admitted trauma patients.
- Responsible for patient identification/family notification, and all trauma documentation, trauma registry data extraction, injury description, injury scoring, and completion of surveillance forms to ensure effective operations. Completes insurance and "crime victim" referral forms as needed.
- Communicates system needs to the trauma service product line managers, attending physicians, residents, support services staff, patients/family, and the external patient support services.
