System Administrator City of Lubbock, TX - 3.6 Lubbock, TX Job Details Full-time $61,609.60 - $101,732.80 a year 16 hours ago Qualifications Driver's License Full Job Description Summary Performs the primary technical network and systems infrastructure support functions. This includes planned and emergency maintenance, performance and security analysis, and monitoring, tuning, and implementation of new products and procedures. Installs systems running emerging technology and makes recommendations for increased server and network services and capabilities. Essential Functions Install and repair microcomputer hardware, peripherals, network hardware and infrastructure, power backup/conditioning/protection (UPS) equipment and data center monitoring equipment; Install network and computer hardware. This includes microcomputer hardware, peripherals, servers, switches, routers, UPS, FPS, etc.; Install and repair servers, LANS and WANS; Install and maintain software including operating systems, databases, network servers and network applications; Install enterprise software such as Active Directory, email, data backup, antivirus, anti-spyware, networks, accounts, LYNC and Share Point; Install and assist with other technical resources as needed: photocopiers, fax machines, printers, shredders, audio/visual equipment, smart phones and tablets; Provide training as needed in the use of networks, network applications, computer applications and computer systems; Develop and maintain systems documentation for installed networks and systems. Qualifications Completion of a bachelor degree in computer science or a related field with an additional one to three years of direct experience within the area of listed essential functions or any combination of relevant experience which provides the following: Training or certifications may be substituted for experience if applicable to listed essential functions.   • Critical Infrastructure:
    This position has been determined to have close contact with, or control of Critical Infrastructure components. This position is subject to extensive background checks and random drug screening.
  • No Class B Misdemeanor convictions within last 10 years
  • No Class A Misdemeanor, Felony Convictions or Family Violence Conviction
Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge of:
Hardware, software, operating systems and networking protocols; Microsoft Windows operating systems; Peripheral and end-user devises including laptops, desktops, printers and smart phones; Productivity and utility software including Microsoft Office, web browsers, email clients and antivirus clients.
Ability to:
Communicate effectively using a variety of methods and devices; Work under pressure and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment; Plan and organize workload and accomplish tasks with supervision; Analyze and determine needs; Learn new things quickly and relate those to both trained and non-computer professionals.
Physical Requirements:
Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Frequently bend and kneel during the shift. Frequently pull and push objects. Frequently flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially at the knees. Frequently rotate upper trunk to the left or right while sitting or standing. Place arms above, at, or below shoulder height.
