System/Database Administrator - Information Technology City of Temple - 3.3 Temple, TX Job Details Full-time $74,547.20 - $82,992.00 a year 3 hours ago Qualifications Research Full Job Description Ready to Start Your Career with the City of Temple? Summary System/Database Administrator, under the general supervision of the Division Director, maintains and administers the city's network systems and computers. This role also troubleshoots hardware, software, and networking issues, as well as ensuring that all computing operations run with optimal performance and security. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Configures and maintains the networked computer system, including hardware, system software, and applications Ensures data is stored securely and backed up regularly Diagnoses and resolves hardware, software, networking, and system issues when they arise Replaces and upgrades defective or outdated components when necessary Monitors system performance to ensure everything runs smoothly and securely Researches and recommends new approaches to improve the network computer system Provides technical support when requested Documents any processes which employees need to follow in order to successfully work within our computing system Responds in a timely manner to user-reported errors Protects the database against threats or unauthorized access Ensures that the database is adequately backed up and able to be recovered in the event of memory loss Reports on metrics regarding usage and performance Collaborates with IT project managers and database programmers Designs databases with both front-end and back-end users in mind Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Combination of education and experience equivalent to bachelor's degree in computer science or related field Four (4) years of experience in system administration or database administration AND Microsoft applications Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field Certifications, Licenses and Registrations Network+ certification Security+ certification Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) with specializations in Windows Server, SQL Server, and Server Virtualization Thank you for your interest in the position.
