An IT Administrator conducts administrative tasks designed to ensure a business' IT network, security systems and servers operate efficiently. Includes investigating and diagnosing network problems, configuring and installing updates. Provides first line IT help, sets up new users and manages security, passwords and backups. May collect IT usage statistics and monitor IT usage of business employees.
The Infrastructure Administrator operates under general guidance, focusing on execution and support while escalating complex architecture and design decisions to senior engineers. This role serves as a versatile technical resource supporting enterprise systems across networking, cloud, server, and identity platforms.
The position complements specialized team members by providing broad, cross-functional expertise and operational support, helping balance workload, reduce dependency on subject matter experts, and ensure continuity of operations as infrastructure demand grows. This role is responsible for implementing, managing, and maintaining both on-premises and cloud infrastructure, ensuring system reliability, performance, and security. The Infrastructure Administrator contributes to enterprise initiatives, supports operational needs across operating companies, and identifies opportunities to leverage automation, scripting, and AI-driven solutions to improve efficiency.
This position collaborates with cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions that support business growth, operational efficiency, and alignment with organizational strategy.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Infrastructure Operations and Support:
Support and maintain hybrid environments including Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, and on-prem systems
Administer and troubleshoot networks including switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless
Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity; respond to alerts and outages
Perform provisioning, configuration, patching, and lifecycle maintenance
Troubleshoot issues across cloud, network, and server platforms
Cross-Functional Support and Workload Balancing:
Provide support across multiple infrastructure domains to reduce reliance on specialists
Assist with shifting team priorities and provide coverage where needed
Enable operational continuity across infrastructure services
Project Execution and Implementation:
Participate in projects including site builds, network deployments, upgrades, and cloud initiatives
Assist with installation, configuration, and testing of infrastructure components
Coordinate with vendors for circuits, hardware deployment, and issue resolution
Security, Operations, and Continuous Improvement:
Support patching, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening
Assist with compliance efforts, audits, and security control implementation
Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity processes
Maintain documentation, configurations, and operational procedures
Identify automation, standardization, and process improvement opportunities
Recommend technology enhancements and best practices
Collaborate with internal teams and third-party vendors across SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS solutions
Identify risks and proactively escalate or mitigate issues
Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
8-10 years of experience supporting and managing enterprise environments with at least 2,500 users (5,000+ preferred)
Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration or cloud services engineering
Relevant professional certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator are preferred
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Broad technical knowledge across infrastructure domains including networking, server, cloud, and identity platforms
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across complex systems and environments
Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced, high-demand environment
Experience with scripting and automation, with PowerShell preferred
Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Proactive mindset with willingness to support areas outside primary expertise
