Standard $ Paid Full Time Part Time Description IS Department Internship (Part-Time / Flexible Schedule) DeKalb County Government (Auburn, Indiana) is seeking a motivated college student for a Internship in our IS Department. This part-time opportunity offers a flexible schedule designed to accommodate class commitments while providing valuable hands-on experience in a collaborative government IT environment. This internship provides hands-on enterprise IT experience supporting county government systems and infrastructure. Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of PC and desktop hardware Hands-on hardware troubleshooting skills Ability to read and understand technical manuals and documentation Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others Comfort assisting users with varying levels of technical knowledge Strong self-motivation with attention to detail Ability to work on-site in Auburn, Indiana Responsibilities Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of desktop and workstation issues for end users Recommend and implement corrective solutions for hardware and software problems Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end-user workstations and related hardware/software Provide professional technical support to county staff Demonstrate workplace professionalism including punctuality, reliability, respectful communication, and appropriate workplace conduct Preferred Skills / Areas of Exposure Students pursuing degrees in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related fields are encouraged to apply Windows 11 workstation support Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint) Active Directory user and computer management Network troubleshooting (basic TCP/IP, printers, connectivity issues) Desktop imaging and workstation deployment Hardware installation and peripheral setup Ticketing/helpdesk systems Basic PowerShell or scripting knowledge Internship Experience This internship is designed to provide meaningful professional development while supporting county operations. Interns will gain experience working in a team-oriented and collaborative IT environment while strengthening both technical and professional skills. The scope of this placement is intended to promote teamwork and collaboration, develop presentation and interpersonal skills, and strengthen technical troubleshooting abilities. The work is challenging and rewarding, making it ideal for individuals who are passionate about learning and pushing themselves outside their comfort zone.
