Job Description:
UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking an intermediate level IT Generalist III to join Infrastructure and Communication Technology (ICT), a unit within UFIT. UF Information Technology (UFIT) enables teaching, learning, research, and service on campus and across the region with state-of-the-art enterprise IT systems, including SEC and SUS universities, and the opportunity to teach using HiPerGator. As part of ICT, you will support and maintain moderately complex network systems and provide both A/V and end user support. As part of the UFIT Field Operaitons Support team, you will be a member of the team that supports network, devices, classrooms and other technologies at the UF Jacksonville campus and its surrounding areas. This position will require travel between the Gainesville and Jacksonville campuses regularly throughout the first 6 months of employment. This position is on a rotating schedule that will require some nights and weekends. Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are: Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving moderate complex network issues Troubleshoots and resolves moderately complex network problems, regarding building level, layer-1, and layer-2 network infrastructure components Evaluates network performance, performs periodic maintenance, reviews procedures, and documents processes for overall continuous systems improvement Follows best practices for new building construction, data center updates and major building renovation projects, including wall-plate equipment renewal projects. Integrates design standards and special requirements into complete configurations. Serves as a technical resource person for coworkers and customers for layer-2 networks on small to medium size buildings There is a special emphasis on statewide WAN including IFAS and Wall-Plate building networks. Other network segments include the campus building LANs, campus wireless access, campus core network, and external WAN connections Installing and moving computers, printers, and other end user technology devices, including installing designated system images and application software Understanding of various current OS environments, Active Directory, and cloud services Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, G suite, Dropbox and other software used across campus Install and configure complex audio-visual and IT hardware in supported spaces Manage Zoom Rooms, Crestron XIO, Scheduling panels, EMS scheduling, public computers, and other Audio-Visual and Information Technology (AV/IT) related hardware and software Support & troubleshoot classroom and A/V technologies in the Jacksonville campus to ensure class lectures go unhindered. Expected Salary:
$61,000 - $65,000; commensurate based on education and experience.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid driver's license.
Preferred:
The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, and skills: CCNA Certification or equivalent CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent certification Knowledge of physical network infrastructure and components Desktop, laptop, A/V or classroom support experience Proven experience in providing technical support for video management and streaming platforms, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
