DESCRIPTION
Seeking a Technology Specialist for Lake Bluff School District 65, 10 month position, $25/hour.
JOB SUMMARY
Manages the daily functions of using technology within the district including, but not limited to, network, email, and various software systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
IT
HARDWARE/SOFTWARE SUPPORT
Assists in troubleshooting and maintaining hardware and software issues on individual computers/laptops and peripherals. Assists with major installations of technology including yearly cloning of computers and laptops and installation of peripherals as needed. Provides help desk support for faculty, staff, and students. Responds to Help Desk requests as they relate to network issues. Installs and troubleshoots the use of interactive teaching solutions. Supports district assessment tools and resources. Installs and supports educational software and updates as necessary and maintains software license compliance records. Maintains a working knowledge of all computer related equipment in order to facilitate timely troubleshooting and repairs.
ADMINISTRATIVE
Attends technology staff meetings to facilitate coordination of technology into the curriculum and resolution of technology issues. Assists in the evaluation, selection and requisition of new technology hardware, software, online resources and technology infrastructure in terms of usefulness to curriculum and administrative needs. Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative procedures. Follows appropriate workplace environment safety guidelines. Follows policies and guidelines as they relate to the use of software (specifically copyright law and the use of licensed equipment and materials). Maintains and enhances professional knowledge to ensure up-to-date knowledge in the technology field including seeking out technology related training.

NETWORK MANAGEMENT
Ensures district network operates efficiently on a daily basis. Maintains networking equipment for LAN and WAN environments, communication systems, security functions and backup systems, and firewall security. Maintains district network servers (application, email, web, file, authentication). Prioritizes needs, issues and problems to maximize the efficient operation of the district technology. Coordinates efforts with needs of students, staff and administration. Supports Macintosh (OS X and OS X server) and Windows (Desktop/Server) operating systems, iOS devices (Ipads, Ipods), Google Console, including knowledge of VMware. Supports Workgroup Manager, Open Directory, Active Directory, GoGuardian, jamf, and Google Console.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma. Experience working in a school environment. Working knowledge of information technology systems and networks that are used in the school district. Skill in operating and troubleshooting computers, software and peripherals used in the school district. Efficient problem solving and diagnostic abilities. Ability to professionally and effectively communicate technical information with school staff members. Excellent scheduling and organizational skills. Specialized training as needed. Experience in design, installation or management of local and wide area networks preferred. Valid First Aid/CPR cards preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to move freely to various locations within the building and perform duties (typically involving frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and lifting). Frequent repetitive activities, including hands and arms, for technology related work. Occasional exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Ability to travel outside the district for a variety of meetings and conferences.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary to be determined yearly. Vacation, holidays, and benefits as specified in Board of Education Policy and Procedure Manual.

The District has two schools and is located 33 miles north of Chicago along the shore of Lake Michigan.
