LOCATION
North Central Office The Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS) is a nationally recognized urban school district that serves approximately 22,000 students. With a Head Start program, three preschools, 28 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, and 5 college and career academies/high schools, the district serves a wonderfully diverse mixture of students. JOB GOAL
The goal of the TIS Technician is to install, maintain, and troubleshoot computers for district staff and students; providing support for software, hardware, and peripheral problems; and assisting with other technology needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Configure operating systems and software, using standard District and administrative packages. Repairs damaged devices and is responsible for the outbound repair process when needed. Installs, assembles, and configures computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers, scanners and related hardware; installs cables or directs the rewiring of cables as required for new installations and office reconfiguration when necessary or as directed by supervisors. Troubleshoots problems with devices, including troubleshooting hardware and software, email, network and peripheral equipment problems; makes repairs and corrections where required. Acts as a technical resource in assisting staff and students to resolve problems with equipment and data; communicates with the help desk to facilitate exchange of information and advice; implements solutions or notifies users as required. Assists in instructing staff and students in the use of standard district and administrative software, when required. Perform other duties as assigned by Hardware Manager, Assistant Director, or the Director of TIS. Instruct staff and students in the use and care of new and existing equipment. Determine feasibility of repair of damaged or obsolete equipment and report it to the supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS
Apple Technician Certification, highly desirable , A+ Certification, or equivalent experience (Mac and PC Experience highly desired) Deep familiarity with iOS, macOS and Windows highly desired High School Diploma Experience with Mosyle and/or JAMF At least one year of experience troubleshooting and repairing computers, preferably Apple Devices. Ability to demonstrate good customer service skills while interfacing with faculty, students, staff, and administrators. Must have reliable transportation.
COMMUNICATION / ORGANIZATION
Maintains communication with district staff. Utilizes existing technology effectively in the performance of duties. Performs other related work as required.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
are required to perform multiple technical tasks, with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include utilizing diagnostic and application software; troubleshooting hardware and software problems on Macs; adhering to safety practices; planning and managing projects; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.

Some problem-solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Apple TVs, Chromecast's, document cameras, TVs and any other AV related equipment used in instruction or meetings.
