JOB SUMMARY
The Systems Technician plays a critical role in deploying and integrating electronic security systems, serving as the technical bridge between field operations and IT. In this full-time position, the technician is responsible for importing security devices into the network, reserving and managing IP addresses, and ensuring newly installed equipment is properly connecting and communicating within the system infrastructure. This role requires close coordination with both field installation teams and IT personnel to troubleshoot connectivity issues and confirm successful device integration into the applicable software platform. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in electronic security systems and a working understanding of network fundamentals, with the ability to translate technical requirements across field and IT environments.

Core Duties Include:
Conduct functional testing of camera and access control systems following installation, including image verification, recording validation, door hardware testing, and credential/permission verification. Import and onboard security devices (IP cameras, access control hardware) into the network management platform and video management software (VMS). Reserve and assign static IP addresses for security devices; maintain accurate device inventory and IP logs. Serve as the liaison between field installation teams and the customer's IT department to ensure devices are properly connected and communicating on the network. Configure and program IP cameras, access control panels, card readers, and electronic locking hardware within the applicable security platform. Troubleshoot connectivity and configuration issues, including network communication failures, device import errors, and software integration problems. Review and interpret network diagrams, system schematics, and installation drawings to support accurate device configuration. Coordinate with IT and network teams to support VLAN segmentation, firewall rules, port forwarding, and PoE infrastructure requirements for security devices. Perform system commissioning activities, including end-to-end testing, punch list resolution, and documentation sign-off. Maintain records of installed equipment, configuration settings, and test results. Support software updates and firmware patching for security devices as directed. Escalate unresolved technical issues to appropriate vendors, integrators, or IT stakeholders and track resolution. Perform tasks and duties of a similar nature and scope as required for assigned account(s). Job Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY
Additional qualifications may be specified and receive preference depending upon the nature of the position Basic Qualifications United States citizenship preferred. At least 21 years of age Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances or background checks if applicable. Education/Experience High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in electronics, information technology, networking, or a related field preferred. Minimum two (2) years of experience in electronic security systems, including IP camera and access control installation or programming. Working knowledge of IP networking concepts including IP addressing, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and basic switch/router configuration. Experience working in a Security Operations Center (SOC), GSOC, or command center environment preferred. Experience with incident management, crisis response, or intelligence analysis. Background Prerequisites Successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation. Clean criminal record consistent with company security policies. Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening (if required). Valid driver's license may be required depending on operational needs. Competencies (as demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing) Ability to read and interpret network diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation. Familiarity with PoE switches, NVRs, and network-connected security hardware. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across hardware and software. Security technology systems management. Analytical thinking and problem-solving. Effective communication and executive briefing. Attention to detail and situational awareness. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong organizational and documentation skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Performing work in a security operations center environment with continuous monitoring activities. Position may require extended periods of sitting while monitoring security systems and reviewing reports. Occasional travel may be required for training, meetings, or operational support. Must be available for on-call support and emergency response outside normal business hours. May be required to work evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on operational needs.
