Qualifications:
Approximately three to five years' experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified or graduation from a two-year college or technical school with coursework on electronics or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
A+ Certification preferred

None
Essential Job Functions:
Repairs, maintains, and upgrades technology-related equipment
Reads and interprets schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals
Operates standard and specialized electronics devices in testing and troubleshooting computer and other technology-related equipment
Maintains an inventory of electronics components needed to make timely repairs
Uses a work-order tracking system for routine repair and maintenance of equipment
Refers complex problems to higher-level technical support
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Maintains basic knowledge of electronic principles and fundamentals of physics as applied in electronics
Maintains general knowledge of computers and related technology devices
Maintains general knowledge of electronics devices
Maintains familiarity with the operation and uses of standard test equipment
Maintains basic knowledge of mathematical principles as applied in electronic circuit analysis
Systematically troubleshoots standard electronics devices
Communicates effectively with users
Participates in long and short range technology planning
Trains technical staff at the building level to follow proper operating procedures necessary to maintain the integrity of the network
Maintains documentation regarding network configuration, operating procedures, and service records relating to network hardware and software
Assists in developing and providing training to building level faculty and staff in the proper operation of the local area network
Attends classes, seminars, conferences and reviews professional literature to enhance knowledge of trends and developments related to local area network systems
Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
Physical and Cognitive Requirements:
The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to the Technology Technician I job classification within the Office of Technology in Hoke County Schools. Work in this classification is considered medium physical work requiring the exertion of up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Must be able to:
Walk, lift, reach, stoop, sit, squat, bend, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch and type for extended periods of time up to 10 hours
Prepare, read, comprehend and analyze a variety of complex forms, reports, spreadsheets, maps, plans, records, documentation and correspondence in all languages required by the job
Speak to individuals or groups of people with poise, voice control and confidence
Respond adequately to inquiries or complaints
Write using standard convention in all languages required by the job
Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form
Communicate effectively and efficiently, both orally and in writing
Use/interpret job-related terminology, mathematical formulas, and functions effectively and efficiently
Deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions, and maintaining effective working relationships
