JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Pittsburgh Public Schools employs over 4,000 individuals in various capacities to support the academic achievement and strength of character of the students we serve. Under the supervision of the Director End User Services, the Technology Support Technician is responsible for providing in-house technology support for the day-to-day operations of the Field Support and Software Support teams. The Technology Support Technician is essential to supporting district devices, from conducting functions checks and cleaning devices as they arrive in the warehouse to imaging and preparing devices to go to district stakeholders. This position configures devices, receives/sorts equipment for recycling and organizes/maintains technology inventory. The Technology Support Technician will identify and address requests that are received through the technology ticket system, specialist inventory loads and dray request.
WORK MONTHS 12 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1.
Conduct a device functions check using a provided checklist to determine next steps for devices. 2. Receive, inventory, and route incoming deliveries and dray requests from district sites. 3. Clean devices that arrive by removing excess marks and stickers. 4. Perform local imaging of machines with approved images. 5. Configure and prep devices prior to distribution. 6. Prepare retired equipment for disposal. 7. Schedule and manage pick up requests for external carriers (e.g. FedEx, UPS, USPS, DHL, etc.). 8. Coordinate device exchanges for Specialists as needed. 9. Prep materials for assigned Specialist and assist End User Support team members as requested. 10. Assist with transition of devices during summer months and high peak times. 11. Maintain, clean, and organize warehouse areas. 12. Document various procedures within the department and recommend improvements. 13. Provide regular updates to supervisor regarding progress towards goals and challenges to meeting goals. 14. Participate in departmental, team, and individual planning and goal setting. 15. Communicate effectively and confidentially at all levels, over the phone, face-to-face, and electronically. 16. Other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor in support of the Department's goals and objectives and the District's mission and Superintendent's Priority Goals.
EDUCATION REQUIRED
Candidates must be enthusiastic about the fundamental goal of advancing student achievement in an urban public school district. Candidates must be comfortable working in a team committed to better meeting the needs of our student population. In addition, we are seeking candidates with:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE REQUIRED
Valid PA Drivers License
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
Experience working with a technical ticketing system preferred.
