Lead Technician - TxDOT Dallas / Ft. Worth 44847BR National Wind Institute Position Description Performs highly skilled mechanical and/or analytical duties in a lead position in the coordination and completion of projects. Work is performed under general guidelines using established procedures and evaluated on results obtained. Supervises subordinate employees. About the Department and/or College The National Wind Institute (NWI) has evolved from its traditional singular focus on wind hazards to three main research pillars of Energy Systems, Atmospheric Measurement & Simulation, and Wind Engineering. Though all three of these pillars focus on distinct issues, they also maintain common ground via cross cutting themes. All research seeks to benefit communities at micro and macro scales.

TTU / WTM
vehicle (oil changes, repairs, tires, etc.). Help with installation of new Mesonet and roadside weather stations. Independently conduct maintenance of existing Mesonet and roadside weather stations. Troubleshooting station electronics including data acquisition, sensor, power supplies, regulators, communications, etc. Review data streams and associated graphs and tables to identify issues. Work with landowners to coordinate visits, installations, maintenance, future installations. Other project support as determined by the NWI Senior Director or West Texas Mesonet Operations Manager. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree and two years experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience to equal six years. This position requires eligibility to drive TTU vehicles, including a valid U.S. driver license and two years of driving experience. Preferred Qualifications Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems. Basic knowledge of data acquisition and sensor systems. Basic knowledge of computer systems.
