Share Job Job Description Datacenter Technician - Juniper (Onsite, Herndon, VA) We are looking for a Datacenter Technician for a large, global B2B high-tech company. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, installing, configuring, and maintaining networking and server equipment in a lab/datacenter environment. They will manage inventory, process shipments, build and troubleshoot network topologies, support virtual machine environments, and assist users with technical issues. This is a 9-month contract project (Extension Possible), 40 hours per week, on-site role in Herndon, VA. This is a W2 employee of Stage 4 Solutions. Health benefits and a 401K are offered.
Responsibilities:
Process inbound and outbound shipments.
Update and maintain lab inventory database (Netbox).
Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, servers, PDU/CDUs, and console servers. Provide end-user support for device troubleshooting, diagnosis, and resolution.
Build small to large-scale network topologies for Juniper customers.
Assist users with building and provisioning virtual machine guests in vCenter/ESXi, KVM, & Proxmox environments. Provide live support & assistance for Sales Engineers during customer presentations.
Requirements:
3 years of field technician or datacenter technician experience.
Experience using power tools, cage nuts, and the ability to handle heavy equipment 50lb+) in conjunction with server lift tools. Knowledge and experience with server hardware and installation (4-post rail kits, virtual
console, etc.).
Knowledge and experience with ethernet cabling and transceiver standards & types commonly used in the industry (SMF, MMF, MTP/MPO, CAT6-RJ45, 1Gbe - 800Gbe standards, DAC, AOC, etc.) Experience with physical setup & provisioning of network appliances (switches, routers, firewalls, etc.) Experience with CentOS, Red Hat, Debian, and other Linux distributions is preferred. Experience with Windows and VMware is preferred.
Experience with network testers (IXIA, Spirent, etc.) is preferred.
Knowledge of standard network protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, Dynamic routing protocols, SSH/SCP/SFTP, DNS, NFS, LDAP, CIFS, SMTP, SNMP, DHCP is preferred. Bachelor's degree in network communications management or equivalent preferred.
